this is the second time I've had this happen. The first time I did a hard reset. This time it's not letting me do that. Hopefully AT&T will just replace the device this time.

Yes, Google is up to date. Unfortunately I can't try the solution of uninstalling the update.There was an issue quite recently where people with various devices were receiving that error message. Uninstalling Google updates seemed to resolve that issue; however, Google has had an update since then which seems to have taken care of it. Is Google up to date on your device?
