I don't believe so. You don't need root or an unlocked bootloader to sideload. It works with stock recovery. I don't see why it would be more difficult on the Verizon version?

Double tap 2 wake was the only thing I liked on the horrible piece of crap that was the Lucky Goldstar G3. Ugliest UI on a phone that ever was. Buggy as hell. Washed out screen. Uh, I get the shivers just thinking about that phone. Even with the LTE, and Bluetooth bugs, thinking about the G3 reminds me how lucky I am to have the Pixel.

The LG G3 though it had problems--cracks around the microphone early, though they didn't affect the use of it, and bad battery life, mostly--did much better at getting on both LTE and my wi-fi than the Pixel has. I know it had bluetooth problems but I rarely use that. The camera was good, too. Don't get me wrong. I am really glad for everyone who loves their phone. And I don't hate the Pixel. But I am clearly not someone who should have gotten a stock android phone. And the LTE problems have just made it all worse. I promise to stop complaining, however. Honest.

Let's both just hope for our sake and everyone that may be having connectivity issues that they all become a thing of the past so we can concentrate on customizing our stock Android phones lol

I didn't have the connectivity issues most had until about 5 days ago. Holy Moley this is awful. I sure hope this update fixes it so I don't have to start looking for a new phone AGAIN!

Been on a Blackberry for many years before it was Android. I know all about waiting for updates and being on Verizon. 2-3 months after they were released before we were getting them. Only reason I am anxious is because of all the connectivity issues and dropped calls I am experiencing. The added features are nice perks but I would rather get my phone working as a phone first and foremost

I seriously do not think I can. I have gone back and forth from Samsung to Apple over the past several years. The biggest thing that made me stick with Apple was the timely updates. Never was able to see the Nexus in person to pull the trigger on it. Super happy to be able to have the Pixel. Not sure I can ever go back to Apple.

I hope I am not being too optimistic, but it would be awesome if this update addressed the BT issues I am having - BT range and BT signal consistency with my speakers and headset. BT in my car is not an issue, thankfully. Since that works 100% fine I am led to believe this is a software issue, not hardware. Get this fixed Google!!
