Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the camera app. Uninstall restart phone and then reinstalling the camera app as well might work. I haven't received the latest update yet, looking forward to it.

Sorry, I already wiped it and got it ready for return. I will probably pick it up again if it goes on sale, I really liked it. And hopefully by then they’ll have the software sorted out.

Did you at least see if wiping it fixed the problem or just figured the problem will never go away. I have zero issues with the camera.

I was already in the process of returning (I had a hole in the speaker grill defect), whether the update would've fixed the camera or not. I got the update the night before and tried it, then I wiped it and got it ready to return the next morning. As I was doing other things I didnt really care to get into seeing if the camera got better after the wipe.

Why go through the trouble of posting if you were never going to keep the phone anyway. You were never going actually attempt to resolved the issue. Why go through the trouble of posting at all?

Because I thought since I just got the new update to retest the camera and compare it with the other phones I currently have. I've done it before with prior updates and did it again while I still had it. Yes it was rushed because I was returning it the next day and who knows if doing a reset or uninstalling would've fixed anything or not, but that update was supposed to make the camera better and it did not for me, in fact you can go back and view previous low light shots I took and you can see it was worse.

And when I get the essential phone again I will be posting comparisons again, whether it makes the phone look good or bad.

It just spreads more negative things about a phone when the user wasnt going to try and resolve them before posting. In turn it's an unnecessary post, especially when people try to help resolve it. When you know you are not going to have time or wanting to trouble shoot.

It's probably because very few people have the phone, I haven't seen anyone else do a comparison after the most recent update, which is why I thought I should while I still had it.

Sorry you feel it's making the phone look bad, but regardless the camera wasnt that good before the update and it's still not good afterwards. In good lighting the shots are fine, but low light is horrible, that's why I tested the low light to see if it got better.

As I've said before, it was an awesome phone and I wouldn't have returned it if it wasn't for the earpiece defect I had, and I plan on repurchasing it down the road once they smoothed out all the kinks, even with the bad camera its been one of my favorite phones of the year.

This... all day long. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on eventually tweaking the camera app enough to match the LG G6 but am not expecting it to uproot the established camera players in the market. By the time they do fix it we could be onto the PH-1 v2, PH-2 or whatever it might be called.

Despite this shortcoming (mostly in low-light), the rest of the phone is still pretty darned good for a first shot at the market. It certainly created a stir. And, I still want another one.

To be fair, I’ve been testing the low light since that’s its major weak spot. In normal lighting it’s actually good, but goes downhill fast once you start turning down the lights.
