While playing with my phone I went to settings and tried the update system button. I got an error message starting "settings have been changed. Update not available" What does this mean? And how do I fix it?

Have you rooted the device? If so, that could give those errors. If not, try updating through desktop (Kies) and see if any updates are available that way.
