T-Mobile: Galaxy Note 9 Pre-Order Thread

Just had a long frustrating chat on T-mobile chat with a supervisor about ordering a Note9. Bottom line, still $279. The best she could do offer me was a one time credit of $80. Not even one credit per phone. To add to the frustration, she said it's never been offered lower than $279 down and that's even her price. So...it looks like no Note9's for us, at least not anytime soon.
I can't justify anything more than than $100 down for this phone, coming from a a perfectly well functioning Note8. I am still shocked how others have gotten the $82 down payment option so easily and some without even asking. Yet, I get told that this doesn't exist and that I have been well qualified since I joined T-mobile and that the well qualified price is the $279 down. Totally flabbergasted at the whole exchange.
The trade-in offer ends today. I'm wondering whether to try calling 611 and try to one last time.
The lack of standardization there just blows me away.

I'm still waiting on my 512gb Blue and I had to pay much more than that to preorder.

Did hope you plan on keeping that phone for a while. Wow. That's steep. I love my phones, but not that much. For any considerable money down, I want to be super excited about my purchase. Not feeling it on the Note9. $100 down, yes. Anything more than that without credits is no deal for me.

I ordered on August 23 and I had to pay $279 down payment. I think the people that are getting lower down payments are people that are on JUMP. I am not on JUMP but I am a 16 1/2 year customer of T-Mobile.

I asked about all of the purchase options. In their world, the $82 down never existed.
I realize you are getting lower monthly payments. But, to me, if you don't plan to own it, it's insane to pay that much to lease a phone.

Yeah I plan to, well for now at least lol. I'm also getting $500 for a S7 and I'll sell my S9+ for $600ish so I'll only pay a few hundred out of pocket for the 512gb.

Great deal on the S7. I was hoping to unload my Note 4 on the $250 trade-in offer. I think they're only going around $140 now on Swappa.

You should get it for half that down. Customer loyalty

Yup I literally just bought the S7 from Boost Mobile.com for $150 and I'll flip it to T-Mobile for $500 off the Note9.

JOD and I just got the right cs rep and complained enough.
I would assume since they are more local now, that others in your area may have gotten that same deal if they asked.
I think I let my frustrations well known while hopefully staying somewhat professional. After a lot of back and forth, I was only offered the one time $80 credit because of my good standing and not having any late payments. I would think that would account for more than that. They "accused me" of wanting to get a better price than anyone else and that wasn't fair. What wasn't fair was others getting the same phone with credits of half or more or lower down payments.
It ended friendly enough and again said they would take my concerns to their T-Voice team, FWIW.

I am really curious what the sales numbers are for note 9 for TMO. There can't be a shortage of jod people who walked away from getting it just because of the down payment when every other carrier is offering 0 down options. Getting phones from TMO doesn't seem to be the best option any more. And they really don't seem to have any consistent policy for jod customers, sad.

I mean the overall cost of the phone is still the same irrespective of down payment or not. If you are not on jump plan, but looking for EIP and don't want to pay a down payment you can look at T-MOBILE version/unlocked version on Samsung.com or unlocked on Amazon, both of which provide 24 months financing like EIP but no down payment. Sure you are opening another credit account, credit check etc, but if you want there are other options instead of EIP + down payment.
