So I think I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile at the right time.

I had owed about $630 on my AT&T Galaxy S8+. I decided to switch to T-Mobile because it was cheaper, and plus they would pay off all my devices to unlock them. Come to find out I can get a discount if I had the Note 7 and trade in my unlocked device, so not only am I getting my phone paid off by T-Mobile, but I can get that discount! The planets are aligned for me :D

So if you do want your phones paid off, consider switching to T-Mobile haha
You could also then sell the unlocked phone for a good price and get the Note 8
That's only if your willing to switch carriers.

Very cool. Just remember you can only do this one time so in the future (a year or two, three, etc.) they won't allow it again in case you happen to swap to someone else then try and go back.

Yeah that's true
I've heard good things about T-Mobile though plus what you see is what you pay so I may stick with T-Mobile

Yep gotta do what works for you when it comes to carriers. I am on Verizon (came from T-Mobile) for a few reasons that I like. I like being bale to buy from BestBuy since they usually have amazing deals and you couldn't do that on T-Mobile. I also don't mind extra coverage with Verizon but I also swapped to them for the unlimited with a cheap price (I got the first unlimited plan before they swapped to this new / expensive one recently) so I only pay $33 a month for my line.

Wow $33 for unlimited on VZW....you have had that plan for a while! I'm sure they would love to have you change your plan lol. I went from VZW to TMO....the coverage is not quite as good to be honest but the DL speeds are better. But most of all switched for JoD, which allows me to switch phones once a month to the newer flagship phones. This feature is awesome for phone junkies like me! :-)

I have had the plan maybe 4-5 months. I swapped when they announced the new unlimited plan (this isn't the very old one from years ago) :).

That is EXACTLY what I am considering...waiting on a call from T mobile now.

$33 a month wow thats pretty good!
Yeah I'm gonna miss those Best Buy deals but I'll manage...T-Mobile allows mobile hotspot on their unlimited...AT&T blocks it which pissed me off

Were you on the old AT&T plan? The new AT&T unlimited plan definitely allows unlimited hotspot. To be honest they have one of the best offers for hotspot. They allow 10 GB per phone to have hotspot before throttling it down but they also allow dedicated hotspots (not phone ones) to have unlimited data with only de-prioritization being a factor.

Yeah only the shared unlimited plan allows it, but their "true" unlimited doesn't. They have two unlimited plans I forget what they were called. the better one doesn't allow for hotspot. I know the one I had didn't allow for hotspot

It does allow hotspot though. The "Unlimited Plus" allows 10 GB of hotspot then throttle per phone line. If you get a dedicated hotspot for a line you can use it as much as you want with only the 22 GB de-prioritization congestion threshold.

By "True" unlimited plan do you mean the grandfathered one from years ago? The grandfathered one didn't allow hotspot at all so that would make sense but allowed unlimited data (they imposed the 22 GB congestion threshold to it as well).

No not grandfathered one, the new one, which I switched too
So if that was the case why was I told by AT&T that I could not use it and they blocked it on my phone as well. I switched to their "new" unlimited plan. That is the one that blocks the hotspot.

Never -- ever -- trust reps. Always do your own research. So many times reps are wrong. You can see here it even says 10 GB of hotspot per line.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and look at the "Unlimited Plus" plan. Also see below. I assume the rep may have thought you weren't grabbing the "Plus" plan?

What....the...
And now I am even more happy I switched from AT&T!!
Horrible customer service that doesn't know what they talked about
Blocked my hotspot when I should have had it
And too expensive

What I don't get though is why they blocked it...shouldn't the plan have allowed me to use it even if the rep told me I couldn't?

AT&T is slowly going downhill

Just sounds like there may have been a glitch on the back-end. When I went to Verizon my video calling wouldn't work even though I had the right stuff. Something on the back-end wasn't working right.

To be fair .. Customer service can be bad anywhere. Just depends on the rep you get :). I have been on all 4 and have had reps at each tell me very incorrect things (I know they were since I do research before calling to get something done).

True lol
Well the main reason I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile was the price, those are things are just additional annoyances

Price is definitely a good factor. As long as it works where you live/work/play .. Win win :P. Can't complain about paying less but getting the same unlimited data.

Does t-mo help you pay off more than 1 device? Also, what if you are still making payments on a phone you no longer have?
