T-Mobile Pre-Order Question and Comment Thread

I'm worried if I hold it there something will happen like having to pick it up next day for some dumbass reason.
just find out the delivery terminal location and have it held there. No delays that way. My delivery terminal is about 4 miles from my home. Once I see a tracking number I choose hold at ups location and make sure I pick thr delivery terminal that way its not going out of the way

There's no signature required on phones from T-mobile by UPS. Unless you live in some sketchy area and there's a chance someone may pickup your package from your doorstep, there is no need to reroute.

Yes there is. And no I don't live in a sketchy area. Every T-Mobile phone that was sent has been marked as signure required.

This would be your reaction if you find out that by making any change ....... would delay getting your hands on the phone the next day instead ???

Correct but I get other packages that do require it. Plus I'm at the end of the UPS route so it's sometimes after 6pm or during holidays it's as late as 9pm. I'd rather have it at 9am.

wonder what type of MicroSD cards everyone is planning on putting into their S8/S8+ phones?

you all have bought your MicroSD cards already?

Doesn't always matter. Not all drivers wait for signature.

That's one thing. But saying UPS doesn't require signatures is wrong. And the drivers should. When I worked at FedEx, you risked getting terminated if you left a package that was marked for signature only delivery.

I've had multiple packages from FedEx marked signature required that were just left on my porch. Doesn't seem they like really enforce it.

I don't dispute that. I know of drivers that did it all the time. And also drivers that were let go because of it. Once a package goes missing and the receipient files a claim, it ends up on the driver and can go back when he or she ignored the signature required. FedEx, UPS end up having to pay for missing packages when we drop the ball, and a blatant disregard for a signature is the carriers fault. If someone leaves a note on their door instructing the driver to leave a package that they know needs a signature, the driver is in the clear and either takes the note as proof or snaps a photo of it. This topic got side tracked so it boils down to, yes, T-Mobile does have signature required delivery.

$150ish on Amazon, or $99 in the bundle from Samsung.

Hi @tourbound129:

if you were getting the MicroSD via the bundle, then you won't have the card for a few weeks at least.

if you received the S8/S8+ in the next 10 days or so, what are you going to do?

if you boot up and set up the phone without a card, then you'd have to do your set up thing all over again when the card eventually arrives weeks later, sort of like a factory reset - quite a hassle and time consuming!

if you put in a temporary older card (i.e. a slower card that you don't intend to use for a long time) just as a place holder in the meantime, ditto the above scenario: you'll have to essentially perform a factory reset when the new card arrives!

what are you planning to do, may i ask?

i can't figure this out which is why i didn't order the $99 bundle even though it's obviously a good deal price-wise.

thx.

Why would I have to reset with a new SD card? I only keep pictures and downloads on it (and TWRP backups if I root).

I currently have a 128gb Samsung Pro+. If I decide to keep the 256gb, I'll just transfer the data on my current card to the new one, put it in the phone and keep going.

Agree, with 64 GB onboard storage I don't really need the SD card. Will throw it in once I receive it from the promo and change pocket casts and few other apps to store on SD card instead of onboard storage. Not sure what's SD card got to do with reset.
