T-Mobile Pre-Order Question and Comment Thread

I received the text message on April 11th at 6:06pm EST.

"Get ready! The Samsung Galaxy S8 releases April 21st. We’re packing your T-Mobile order# so you might see applicable charges on your card. We will start shipping on April 19 prior to its release."

My credit card has been charged on Wednesday April 12th and according to their website the cards for preorders don't get charged until the device has actually been shipped. I haven't received any Tracking info and the website still says "Order is being processed". Hopefully since my card was charged I will get it Thurstay April 13th or 14th.
Same thing happened with the Note 7. It's not gonna come the 13th or 14th. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Would've at least liked to have gotten a text by now, let alone an authorization on my card. Makes me wonder how far down the list I pushed myself by canceling me 3/30 preorder for the S8 and preordering the S8 Plus on 4/8.

Ordered the Orchid Gray S8+ on 3/30
Got the text yesterday but no charges on my card yet and nothing on MyUPS

I totally get that it happened with the Note 7. However, why display something on your website stating one thing and turn around and do the complete opposite. That's terrible customer service.

I don't disagree, but it seems they deem shipping to have started once the units are being packed up and prepared. Since the texts have said the devices are being packed up, it would seem they are in line with their policy as they most likely define it.

It may bring them inline with their own policy but they are in violation of Visa/MC merchant agreements.

Weirdest thing happened though, for a minute in the app it said Track device and showed this odd screen, then reverted back to pre order, what's that about??

That's what I just told customer care. They said the shipment date started on the 12th but the earliest I would receive my device would be the 20th. I then told them I got overnight shipping, and they said the "scripted" line again that the earliest I would receive my device would be the 20th. Totally ridiculous. Last time I will preorder anything from them. I'll just wait until the device has been released.

Woohoooooo!! I was just billed $187.38 tmobile tel upgrade Pending. In Ohio. Preordered on Tmobile chat window on 4.5.

I'm not sure it's worth it trying to make some kind of statement that you're upset that you're only going to get something one day early.
It's not about only getting it 1 day early. By charging credit cards and not shipping the product, Tmobile is in violation of Visa and MasterCard merchant agreements.

I decided to cancel my order through TMobile. I went ahead and pre-ordered through Samsung for the T Mobile version. I got the $99 headphones/sd card deal with it. I am buying it full price. I will sell my S7 Edge and will use this phone as my backup phone if I like the Note 8. If not I will use this a my main driver until next years round of phones... I bet the people who ordered through carriers will get their phones first.

Maybe so but the people who preordered from Samsung do not have to wait for the extra stuff because they already have the IMEI #'s from our phones. People who ordered from carriers have to wait till they have the phone in hand to submit the IMEI #'s to Samsung for the extra stuff

I'm not upset that I'm getting the device only 1 day early. I'm upset because I was told one thing and them not doing what they said and it clearly states on their website that cards will not be charged until the preorder is actually shipped meaning that it's on its way, not being packed or prepared to be shipped next week. I was expecting to receive it on the 21st, and was expecting the charge to hit my card on the 20th which is what I was told. If I'm charged on the 12th then I expect it to be shipped on the 12th, and if I'm getting overnight shipping, then I should receive it the day after it's shipped.

But would you be ok with it if they shipped your phone early?
Well if they charged my card today and shipped today or tomorrow, I would consider that fine. But charging this week and holding the merchandise until next week is not fine.

It's not about when I get the phone. Is it nice that Tmobile ships early sometimes? Sure it is. But I don't go in expecting it.

But I do expect them to follow merchant agreements.

Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc, etc have never charged me for an item until it actually ships. And not T-Mobiles definition of shipped which is create a label and schedule a future date pickup. That's not shipping. Once the carrier picks it up, that's shipped.

But would you be ok with it if they shipped your phone early?

It would be great if they actually shipped the phone the day they charge the card, which is what their website clearly says. Here is what it actually says.

"Pre-Order: How It Works

You can pre-order your device now. Here are important things to know about pre-ordering:

When will my pre-order ship?
Once your device becomes available, we will ship according to your pre-order date. All pre-orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

When will my credit card be charged?
We will charge your credit card when your device is actually shipped. You will receive an email update when your device ships.

What about Returns and Cancellations?
If you change your mind, no worries. All pre-orders are supported by our standard return and cancellation policy.

How do I transfer my number to T-Mobile?
For the smoothest transition, we recommend you transfer your number after you have received your pre-ordered device."

That is from their website.
