T-MOBILE Update today

Well done T-Mobile (USA)! That is quite a sizeable update and increase in changelist #, (see post #2), for their Snapdragon model.

Since firmware updates on the individual U.S. carrier branded models are at the discretion of the carriers concerned, it will be interesting to see how fast other U.S. carriers react with similar bugfix updates.

When will GM-930F get this update?

The T-Mobile update does not apply to the Global, Exynos, model.

Yeah I understand, but Exynos should be getting a similar update soon with similar fixes/improvements. It would be unprecedented for US carrier models to receive superior software support than unlocked models so an update must be coming to improve Exynos too shortly.

Not if those updates are related to the optimisation of the Snapdragon chipset. I agree that normally, Samsung push out any new firmware to their own unbranded and lightly branded models first but in this case it would appear that the bugfixes are Snapdragon related. Samsung do not, as you know, publish actual changelogs but just show the changelist #. I believe that in future we will need to treat the Global and U.S./Chinese models as separate entities for under-the-hood stuff as they have different chipsets, kernels and modems among other things.

Walter:

How do you have the PHONE do an auto update?

I do not auto update my apps; does that affect the phone updates?

I am now doing a manual check and update for the phone, but if I did not see info about the new update for the phone I would not have known about it. I want my phone to auto check for phone updates (not apps)

Thanks!

This ^.

There may be no issue with your phone, Cake. Hence why no update.

Installed update over 24 hours ago & here are my findings.
Battery life improved greatly under work load.
Better Ram managment OS more snappy.
Android System CPU lower
Device runs cooler.

Hopefully AT&T & Verizon make update avalible soon

This ^. Before the update, Android System was the biggest battery hog followed by OS... Now it's much lower

Screen shot 6 hours on batt , just hit 3% loss.
About 10min screen on time checking emails dismissing alerts & 2 minute phone call.
No Android System chugging in background is a good thing

ADDING:
I use Disabler Pro for KNOX , VR Gear etc nothing too deep just basic bloat.

yes good stuff hopefully soon.
Normally on this standby usage I would be 5-6% loss with Android System making presence in stats.
The big thing noticed yesterday - last night was slower battery decrease when using apps in combination which I touched on yesterday in erlier post.

Did the update yesterday afternoon. Now my flashlight no longer works, and my camera isn't functioning either. With the camera not functioning, no mobile deposits, no taking pictures of kids and family, nothing that had to do with the camera at all. NOT HAPPY!!!!

I can report that this fixed the only issue I had after buying it on Saturday (last weekend) Android system etc aren't taking a ton of battery anymore. Left it off the charger over night and only lost 3% battery in a span of 8 and a half hours so I can confirm it fixed doze as well.

I'm at 35% after some heavy use today since 8am and it's now 8:30 here. Not bad, will compare to the life I get on my 6P here soon.

WORD OF WARNING: In the edge forum it was posted that this update apparently has borked the AOD so that it never moves around the screen anymore so there might be potential burn in issues on the screen. I haven't got the update yet myself but I assume this problem exist on the regular S7 too.

Funny, I thought it moving around the screen was a bug because it was annoying as hell. I just want the damn thing to do its job in one place.

If it displays in the same location all of the time, it will burn the AOD image into the screen. Amoled displays are susceptible to this.
