T Mobile Use

Your Gear S was probably grand fathered in because the policy was in place much later than your Gear S purchase. But now you changed device IMEI and it probably flagged the account to cut off the wearable plan. If you look at the link I posted earlier. T-Mobile did say it is for Samsung Gear S only.

This could really be the issue, bu I asked them if they did and they said they didn't. Over and over. I even called them before I got the LG WULTE2 to make sure this didn't happen.

Yet, what other explanation is there, really. I'm so mad :(

The wearables plan kept me with T-mo every time I looked at cheaper carriers. Without it, I'll have less of a reason to stay, and I told them as much.

Tmobile customer service has really gone down hill. You simply can't trust what CSR said.

Same problem for me. I returned Samsung Gear S2 3g since it wouldn't connect on TMo, among other reasons, purchased unlocked LG Urbane from AT&T off contract, got a TMo sim for my Urbane which wouldn't connect to network. Then wasted time with Customer service who ultimately asked me to contact LG tomorrow for further assistance. TMo about to lose a new customer as soon as AT&T makes a good pitch for new customers.

The last tech guy also told me to contact LG. I told him I wouldn't, since the LG watch obviously has no problem working with Tmo sim cards, it is the Tmo wearable sim cards that are causing the problem, so they need to investigate on their end.
I asked him to submit a ticket with whatever internal department can fix how tmo detects devices using the wearables cards. The good it will do me...

Before you guys get pissed off at T-Mobile, they do not yet offer service to the Urbane LTE. We don't know if they ever will. This means they have obligation to help you or they don't know anything about it.

When I called yesterday they CSR had to google it to see what I was talking about. He had no clue the watch was even out. He was not aware of any T-Mobile policy against using another wearable tech on your plan if you have one.

Their process to ensure sim cards for wearables plans are being used in wearables is the problem. I can no longer use my Gear S, so, I am mad. This is not a CDMA carrier, so no need for them to trouble-shoot my device: they need to fix whatever prevents their wearables sims to be used in wearables.

BTW, I melt into a puddle every time I see your profile pic!!!! What a cute puppy.

I wasted time and spoke with LG customer service who "researched" and said the Urbane is locked to AT&T and Verizon, and there are unspecified plans to release other carrier specific (e.g. TMo, Sprint) and "unlocked" Urbane 2s in the future. I then went to AT&T's unlock web page and put in my EMEI and it was not recognized. I love the LG WULTE2, but it's going back to AT&T next week if I can't sort this out.

The problem is these GSM carriers can't tell if a device is wearable or not if it isn't branded by them (although it is quite easily doable to do a search on global GSM database).

It is not locked if you can use regular T-mo sim in it. AT&T does not offer unlock through its web page for wearables. I have to call and open a case with AT&T to unlock my Gear S.

This is exactly the issue. They cant determine that the device the wearable sim is in is actually a wearable. So it will not provision on their network. They need to figure it out real quick though because I am going to have to return it within 14 days if it doesnt work.

Gear S owners (those who bought from AT&T) have been dealing with it for many months now. Don't hold your breath.

Well thats disheartening :/ i have had some luck using twitter to get things done, i just sent one to john legere saying that we want to bring our devices. We shall see if he responds.. Usually he has the techsupport contact me back though.

Most likely he is the one who asked for this additional check. Initially, there was no such check for wearable plan. When the CEO saw how the revenue declined quickly by ppl abuse the system, he probably ordered a quick stop to this. The measure was only in place 6 months or so ago.

Its understandable, but surely there has to be some way to distinguish what kind of device is being used.

Seems that the way they should have built this is, when provisioning a Wearable plan, that they check a comprehensive IMEI database, and only allow your Wearable plan on that IMEI, without restricting to only their IMEIs. If you change your Wearable, new IMEI check should be preformed to make sure new IMEI is a Wearable. Coulda, shoulda...

Coulda but none of them bother. It requires an engineering investment as the database is not maintained by them (may actually have to pay to access). AT&T is the same way but it does not seem to place such restrictions on wearable plan (only $10/m).

I think that nails it: they need to invest in either an update to the infrastructure or get their own database of wearables IMEIs or whatever. Or just stop offering a wearables plan if they are unwiling to spend money to fix it.
It's so frustrating that now I can no longer use my Gear S, and I am being told no Gear S is working on Tmo at the moment, with no ETA for a fix. I basically lost access to my wearables plan, and the answers I am getting make no sense if you are somewhat familiar with telecomms and technology.
