When using moto assist in the car does your phone read the texts out loud from the phone when connected to bluetooth or does it try to read them through the car stereo? The Verizon version I had would read the texts from the phone even though it was connected via bluetooth to the car stereo which was nice so I could still receive calls over the car stereo and still hear and respond to texts from the phone. Unfortunately the AT&T version I have does not work like this. Was wanting to try and see if the T-Mobile version works like the Verizon one I had during the two week trial Motorola is having next week.

Re: People with T-Mobile version

There's no difference in those versions (in regards to how assist works). I don't know how your stereo works, but on mine I have to hit the AUX button a second time to get audio to play through the speakers from some sources (like embedded video or YouTube) if I've been streaming music.

Re: People with T-Mobile version

So your saying the assist on the AT&T and T-Mobile phones work the same? Basically I'm asking if assist reads the texts out loud from the phone(not through the car stereo) while connected to bluetooth in the car on the the T-Mobile version? The Verizon phone I had worked like this. I could be listening to sirius on my car stereo and the phone would read the texts out loud from the phone and i would still be able to take a call through the stereo if one came in. The AT&T phone I have now does not. When connected to bluetooth in the car it tries to read the texts through the car speakers when listening to the radio even though that profile isn't supported.

Kinda defeats having assist while driving since I have to choose which is more important. Having bluetooth turned on so I can receive calls in the car and not hear texts from the phone since it's trying to send the texts through the stereo, or having bluetooth off on the phone so assist can read me the texts from the phone but not be able to take calls through the car stereo.

It will read the texts and I can receive calls through the car stereo if I have my stereo on the bluetooth source but, then I can't listen to Sirius, radio, ect. while driving. Maybe I'm asking too much but, seems a little weird that assist on two versions of the same phone would act differently while driving.

Re: People with T-Mobile version

I am not sure about the T-Mobile & AT&T versions, but I can confirm that on my Verizon Moto X, it does not read texts via the car stereo when connected via bluetooth.

It does, however, read them through the stereo when I have it connected through the headphone jack. Unfortunately, it does not pause the music playback in those cases, it just talks over the music!

Have you tried changing the stream setting in the Assist Driving settings?

Yep. It works like it's supposed to when the bluetooth source is selected on the radio. I would like for it to read the texts through the stereo when Sirius, FM, ect., sources are selected.

Re: People with T-Mobile version

Please post your results, and what car/stereo system you are currently using.

Mine is a 2013 Ford Mustang GT using a Shaker 500 system w/ SYNC.

Will do...as soon as the ol lady is home long enough for me to try it out.
