T-Mobile video calling on the S20 phones?

So we heard at Unpacked that the S20 range of phones will have Duo available right in the dialer. Given that T-Mobile has it's own native video calling, do we know if Duo will be replacing this?

T-mobile is usually pretty good about not forcing stuff on us. So I would assume duo would be the default video calling app.

Wasn't that a Samsung-wide thing with compatible carriers? It was built into the dialer. I don't think it was T-Mobile only but I honestly don't recall. Anyway, it was already announced that Duo will be the new default video call service in the dialer. That's good news, as Duo is there by default in the OnePlus dialer as well, so hopefully it becomes and Android-wide thing soon.

As of now it's t-mobile which allows most android device to natively video t-mobile subscribers from the phone dialer.

It is but crappy US carriers are known to disable things like that because they want to push their own bad services. It unfortunate that Samsung still has to dance to the tune of US carriers. I'm not saying they will do for this particular thing but it won't be entirely surprising if one of the US carrier disables duo integration in the dialer.

Duo is better because it works with every device including iPhones or web if they have Duo.
Carrier video calling is bad since it only works with that carrier devices minus iPhones. And the intention of carriers is not too develop video calling for everyone, just a service to work with their select portfolio of devices.

Samsung has added Duo in dialer now but as you know crappy carriers can disable them. Verizon supposedly has removed this time.

Unlocked, T-Mobile confirmed to have. Verizon doesn't have. AT&T and Sprint unknown. Won't be surprised AT&T also disabling lol, they are the worst in the last few years

Definitely one of the things T-Mobile does right. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of bloat and that they don't remove any features. Sprint had a lot of bloat and Verizon and att are just horrible.

Now if T-Mobile could just build their Network out better in rural America. It's almost like they gave up on lte once they started the 5G build out. I still have dead spots around my city and don't get me started on when I go to PA hunting or up north in MI.

Tmobile version mimics unlocked version, that's what good about them , couple carrier apps but that's it . Feature wise pretty much same .

I thought AT&T would force their video calling and not allow Duo but I was surprised to see you had the option within the phone dialer app to switch to Duo. Nice job AT&T. Lol

I dunno. I always have issues with T-mobile's video chat function. Either won't connect or drops while it does connect. I ended up using FB Messenger as my workaround.

I want to see how much Duo would be but I'm guessing it's only S20s that have it?

Correct. Hopefully they update previous models since it's only software.

Yes, though technically you could simply download the Duo app and use it like us S20 users. The only difference with the S20 series is that you can access Duo from the dialer itself.
