Tab 3 7.0 should be getting update very soon

Tab 3 7.0 has not gotten kitkat/4.4 yet. They did announce it will be receiving it but it has not come out yet. Any updates on the Tab 3 7.0 that anyone sees now is minor.

Only reason I wsnt to upgrsde is so I can move apps to my sd card. But I thought I read kitkat doesnt allow that?

Still patient and still hopeful that the update comes soon. I love my Tab 3 7.0, but still would like to see the latest OS or at least with 4.2.2 that the Tab 2 7.0 was updated to a few months ago. I'd like to see the floating widget/apps that are on the Tab 2 7.0" come to the Tab 3. Using a friends the other day, I found them quite useful instead of constant app switching.

Well, I was pumped when I was trying to get lock screen notifications via NiLS, but of course, no widgets can be placed in the lock screen of 4.1

On top of all new speed updates, that's my biggest excitement in 4.2.2.

From the Play Store page for NiLS Notifications Lock Screen app:

"The app is designed for Android 4.2 lock screen but works well on Android 4.0/4.1 with WidgetLocker app installed."

4.1 on the Galaxy Tab won't run "app2 SD." With only 8 GB of internal memory (half of it gobbled up by Samsung's Bloatware), lack of an external SD support function makes this tablet less cool than it should be. I bought mine in December and have been hearing rumors of this update to 4.2 (which the galaxy tab 3 8.0 runs, and which DOES allow for app2SD support) for several months. I keep hearing that the update is coming, but nothing ever gets released!

The tight storage on the 3 7.0 eventually made me pull the trigger and grab a Sandisk Extreme 64 gig MicroSDXC card. Some of my apps and games are much happier but still some can't get around the small 8GB of internal storage. I am happy I made the investment in the memory card though. Nearly my entire music collection (sans Apple DRM from older songs and video)

One thing that puzzles me is why SCUMM VM refuses to work on the 7" WiFi. The app installs fine along with the right plugin for my game but I get nothing but a black screen. No option to even set the directories. I was hoping to play this game again and disappointed if it's a OS related issue while we Tab 3 7.0 owners have a virtual carrot on a stick hoping for a somewhat modern build of Android. Thought these updates would be out by now. Especially for the WiFi model that's not tied to any carrier.

Tab 3 7.0 is supposed to get 4.4.2 kitkat. I doubt that it will get 4.2 unless Samsung backs out of its initial announcement of kitkat coming to the Tab 3 7.0

I should look into VMs, I heard the LTE can run Fallout 2 in a PC emulator.

On Kit Kat, I surely hope they learned from the S4 and are waiting for Google to have patched those battery sucking mistakes.

Kitkat has been confirmed for the galaxy tab 3 7.0

looking forward to it personally, but with a 8GB microSD inserted, i store music and **** on there
and using a custom rom allows for less bloatware

At least Kitkat is more smoother for bottom of the range tablets and at least I installed the Google Now launcher, better than touchwiz home. But the sad part is that it only says T217a which is for AT&T 3G/LTE users. What about the T210 and T211, Samsung?

This is the very thing that concerns me as well. The T210 model logically would have an update due to it being a completely "agnostic" platform that doesn't require any carrier testing and bloatware updates from AT&T.

Unless Samsung is using that model to test stability before the T210 WiFi model sees an update.

Other than mobile communication, what other differences do the two have?

It's rather sad that the Galaxy Tab 2 base WiFi model is running a newer release than the supposed updated version of it. If only the Nexus 7 had an upgrade slot for a 64GB MicroSDXC card.

The expandable memory option is why I decided on this model. Have most all of my music library on this little beast aside from DRM content early on from iTunes.

On a side note, the T210 that I have runs The Bard's Tale in HD with everything cranked and it runs amazingly well. The assets folder is just over three gigs of data on the 64GB SDXC card and extra in game particle effects show rather well and plays very smooth for an odd GPU inside.

Playback of full HD video is no problem either.

That's good to hear! I didn't think the T210 could swing that game. Samsung's had some crashers with a few apps on the PXA986 and they're already coming into the Tab 4, would be a **** move but I wonder if they won't even give over the compatible 4.2.2 that landed in the 3 Lite trash tablet.

I've been hearing about the Tab 4 and the recent sales by multiple carriers tossing a free Tab 3 with purchase/upgrade to Galaxy S5. I almost caved in simply wanting a larger screen than my iPhone 5 but changed my mind due to already having a decent phone regardless of Apple haters and fans otherwise.

As far as the supposed firmware update for the Tab 3 lineup, WiFi only and carrier branded models, I still have a bit of hope even if the Tab 4 does see release. The WiFi model of the Tab 2 got it's update well into it's product life cycle and is quite stable. When I think about it, it was only a couple months later that I picked up my T210... I was just surprised to see a older OS in a newer product.

If Samsung fails me, my upgrade may be an ASUS or Nexus device but after all I've invested in my Tab 3, I have no intention of dumping this device. It has it's faults for sure but it also is a quirky little tablet that does quite many things my iPad 2 can't.

Hehehe yep! I'm pleased with getting my 7.0 LTE for free "just for being with Sprint" at the time, and after that they've done more free Tabs for "joining a Framily", and "buying X phone". I almost got second one just because I could when I bought my LG G Flex. All unlimited phone + data $45, 2GB tablet plan $15, insurance on the phone and fees and it's all cheaper than one paid-up phone on my old Everything Data calling plan @_@; I am abusing the data plan as always with "auto upload pictures and videos".

This Flex is a hella trick, ungibbed. I am so glad to have the Galaxy bonus of 50GB Dropbox storage from my Tab to go with it.

Aye I enjoy the extra space on Dropbox when I had my GS3 on T-Mobile and The Avengers free from Samsung & T-Mobile to keep. For some odd reason I can't use my same Samsung account on my Tab 3 to watch it on a larger screen. I still have my 50GB of storage that comes in handy every so often.

Sprint on the other hand is just not for me. Coverage is awful in my area. I'd rather go to Metro before I sign on with Sprint.

Anyway, I've never had any trouble from tower switches and changes in data speed with my iPhone if that's what you're referring to.

There's a lot of different phones I've had and reviewed in the past. Some great and some awful but the honest best experiences with prior handsets were when the hardware and software both came from the same manufacturer which at that time there were three. Apples once new iPhone, many different BlackBerry devices one of which a personal favorite was my old Bold 9700. Finally, the pre-Microsoft Nokia smartphones that while stylish, were feeling more dated and hard to manage than a legacy BlackBerry 6.0 phone from any provider.

I had used my my Bold 9700 (T-Mobile branded 3G/AWS with UMA (WiFi calling in indoor areas that easily handed off to 3G without dropping your call) later Android phones had the WiFi calling feature but would not hand off to mobile when out of range. Lose your WiFi, your call drops like a bad habit.

This feature was on top end phones such as my previous phone, the Galaxy S3. Only T-Mobile models supported it despite having nearly all the same internals as every other GS3 device on every other carrier still it wasn't seamless like the old BlackBerry was.

Now with the second iPhone I've used on T-Mobile, (an iPhone 5) which literally blows away the GS3 I had in network speed and call clarity.

Sure there's plenty of haters out there but I look at it as having the best of both worlds with my Tab 3 and my older iPad 2 and with the iPhone with LTE speeds (my GS3 lacks LTE so it saw the way of craigslist from a die hard Apple hater) I found it funny as he's talking trash about the iPhone he never realized the speed I was tethered at provided by my iPhone 5 and provided him temporary access over an Apple device.

Needless to say, he was blown away at the speeds of the internet access and was still pulling data when I got a call and answered it. His tune changed a bit as he never seen such quick speed before from an Apple iPhone. I could only imagine if I had a 5S.

The sale of my GS3 did lose me a nice point & shoot camera of which I loved the real time effects filters and the larger display but the change is for the better.

The old S3 would barely last me a day on a full charge. On the other hand, my iPhone will easily last a day and a half under the same conditions.

It's obvious that I'm no brand fanboy or I'd be typing this on a iPad Mini. I simply see more value in the T210 despite the dated OS. It is fast and responsive in most all situations and the value is great even with the largest MicroSDXC card I could stuff in it and the official Samsung book cover.

I've never bothered with rooting it and quite happy with it overall.

I'm curious what you're getting at with ***** phones...?
