Looking for recommendations for the best tablet for kids. Would like to be in the $200 range.
Would like to get both kids their own and want the same one (so no fighting). But I have slightly different requirements

Older child
Already has a iPod touch. Like the games, has songs already purchased. Biggest downfall right now is screen is too small for the internet surfing he wants.

Younger child
Envy's the older ones touch. There wants a touch. Want something small and light for her to have a good grasp on it, but nothing huge either.

We initially thought the kindle fire, but I have some concerns. For the older child, it would be nice to be able to hook up a physical keyboard for the web surfing. Lack of additional memory concerns me if they start to get movies. For both kids, it would be nice if there was some sort of mic and camera if they want to do video chats with family far away.

But this doesn't mean that the fire is not the best choice. Any advice?

I just started looking for "something" for our two g-kids (3yo & 6yo), so if you don't mind. I'll add a couple questions??

  • bullet proof? They play with and are careful with my Dinc2, but it's a pricey brick if it brakes..
  • age bracket 6++, they have access to leapster & leapPads and their parents think these will not grow as fast as the girls. and they want more than "mindless games"
  • WiFi that can be easily hid? the 6yo checks the bars already..

Ipop touch is one candidate, but I prefer Android. It would allow shared/common apps. I don't need to learn another operation system.

Thanks

I was coming to ask the same thing. I am trying to decide if the ones on sale on BF will be worth trying to get.
