I just purchased a new Lenovo Android 13 Tab M9. I also have a 5 year old Lenovo Android 10 M8.

On both tablets I can easily log into my Charles Schwab online web account. On my old tablet I previously successfully logged into the Schwab app which I had downloaded from Google Play store.

But on my new Lenovo Android 13 Tab M9, when I download the Google Play store Schwab app the login screen properly appears, but when I click in the login rectangular box, although the vertical cursor (?) appears, the keyboard doesn't appear. I tried clearing both the Gboard and Schwab data/cache, uninstalled the Schwab app, restarted the tablet and downloaded the Schwab app again, to no avail.

Please advise. Thank you.

I have the same tablet and Gboard comes up without issue when I use the Schwab app. Is everything up to date -- Gboard, the system, and also Google Play system updates? For the latter, go to the system settings, then Unlock & Security>Google Play System Update.

Do you have a pin, password, pattern or other security set up for this device? Banking and money apps will not function on devices without security and it may not allow you to even get to the login phase without it.

I put $2 on this being it...

Let us know if this works for you.

FWIW, when I installed the Schwab app on my Tab M9, it at least showed Gboard when I tapped the login field.

B.Diddy -- I clicked on the Play store icon and then Manage apps and devices. It says all apps are up to date. Also followed your
Google Play system update instructions and it's up to date (11/1/25). Gboard still doesn't come up.

VidJunky -- I've got the pattern unlock like B.Diddy. I used it to initially log in, but it wasn't requested subsequently. Again, I easily logged into my Schwab online account as the Gboard came up.

Also, I should mention that when I set up the tablet a week ago, I went through all the options in Settings and made some changes. Maybe that messed things up.

Mustang -- I assume developer settings are on as I don't believe I turned them off. Unsurprisingly, I'm not familiar with developer settings. And I don't think I'm ready to give up on Gboard as it worked fine regarding logging into my Schwab online web account. And it works fine re typing on duckduckgo, and this Android Central page etc.

Developer settings are usually off unless u tap the build number 7 times , as for Gboard can you uninstall it? If so try a different version one lower then you have currently as there might be a glitch. I wanted you to test out another keyboard to rule out a wider issue and it's just Gboard.

You can find different versions of Gboard here but only if you can uninstall Gboard on your device

Mustang, my Tab M9 doesn't allow me to uninstall Gboard. B,Diddy could corroborate this on his Tab M9, but it's not necessary. I'm not sure what you want me to do with the deveoper settings, but please see my post #14 below...

I know this is a pain in the butt, but you might consider doing a factory reset, then setting the device up again, this time only installing Schwab, and see if the problem persists.

B.Diddy, Mustang and VidJunky ---

I just did a M9 total hard factory reset. Then I transferred all Data from M8 tablet to M9 tablet using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. So now my numerous Gmail accounts and banking apps and Charles Schwab app, etc...and saved passwords, are on my M9.

Gboard still doesn't come up on the M9 Schwab app. But it comes up for the M9 Schwab web login, duckduckgo, this Android Central page, etc just fine.

Ok, here's some new info: the Schwab app on my m8 still works as I just received a notification on the top of the screen of my M8, which I requested, in order to complete my Schwab web login on my M9. (The notification asks: Is it me -- yes or no.) ....

....BUT now I can NOT log into the Schwab app on my M8 as Gboard won't come up on my M8 just like it doesn't come up on my M9.

I was once able to log into my M8 Schwab app, but I haven't needed to log in in approx 1 year, as I designated the M8 as a trusted device.

Maybe B.Diddy can try logging out of his Schwab app on his M8 and/or M9 to see if he can still login with Gboard.

Thank you!

BDiddy... I typed and posted #14 below before seeing your post #13 . Please see #14. I actually did the hard factory M9 reset early this morning...(or late last night?)

If you didn't enable developer settings then no need to do this, I think your issue might be the Schwab app if that's the only place it doesn't show up.

I called Schwab approx 1 week ago. The customer service person said it wasn't a problem with the app. But he wasn't in their IT department. I can speak to a Schwab tech person on Tuesday or Wednesday, but let's see what BDiddy says after reading #14 above.

Ok definitely, glad you reached out to them and in the meantime check if any updates recently for the Schwab app

Per Play store "Manage apps & device" all my apps are up to date.

BDiddy has the same 2 Lenovo tablets as me.... And he has the Schwab app as well. After reading #14, maybe he'll log out of the Schwab app and try logging back in.
