I just purchased a new Lenovo Android 13 Tab M9. I also have a 5 year old Lenovo Android 10 M8.

On both tablets I can easily log into my Charles Schwab online web account. On my old tablet I previously successfully logged into the Schwab app which I had downloaded from Google Play store.

But on my new Lenovo Android 13 Tab M9, when I download the Google Play store Schwab app the login screen properly appears, but when I click in the login rectangular box, although the vertical cursor (?) appears, the keyboard doesn't appear. I tried clearing both the Gboard and Schwab data/cache, uninstalled the Schwab app, restarted the tablet and downloaded the Schwab app again, to no avail.

Please advise. Thank you.

Look that app up and not many good reviews and was updated December 2 2025
It was last updated december 15 on my M8. I wouldn't review it as I don't use it except to receive notifications, which is important as several times a week they want to verify that it's me logging into my online Schwab web account.

Of course it currently works on my M8, but it's 5 years old and has taken a beating. I don't expect it to work much longer.

All

Per Play store "Manage apps & device" all my apps are up to date.

BDiddy has the same 2 Lenovo tablets as me.... And he has the Schwab app as well. After reading #14, maybe he'll log out of the Schwab app and try logging back in.

Yeah we wait for @B. Diddy to respond

I can't test it on my Tab M9 just right now (and BTW, I only have the Tab M9 -- I used to have a Tab M8 a long time ago, but not any more). I can try again later. However, you mentioned that you transferred all the data and apps to the Tab M9 after the factory reset. In case some other app is interfering, I think it's worth uninstalling all other 3rd party apps except for Schwab and see if the problem persists. (That's why I had previously suggested a factory reset, and then ONLY installing the Schwab app.)

I just uninstalled all apps that showed a trash can symbol after long pressing their icon, except for the Schwab app.

Gboard still doesn't come up. I restarted the tablet and tried again and Gboard still didn't appear.

Please let me know when you have a chance to uninstall and download on your M9. Otherwise I'll try speaking with a Schwab IT person Tues or Wed.

Thank you!

I reinstalled the Schwab app on my Lenovo Tab M9, and Gboard worked properly for login.
I'll call Schwab IT Tues or Wed.

I think I only need to login once to the Schwab app on my new tablet to be able to receive notifications atop my tablet screens.
Can I download a different version of Gboard or some other keyboard app to login one time, without uninstalling Gboard (since Gboard doesn't allow uninstalling)?

Should I "disable" or "force stop" Gboard before downloading a different keyboard app?

If Schwab IT has no answers, what could the problem possibly be?

If you install another keyboard app, you can set it as the default by going to System>On-screen Keyboard>Manage On-screen Keyboards, and select the one you installed. No need to disable Gboard.

Do you have any 3rd party security apps installed?

Good to know. Thank you. Please see #31 below.

Ok, here's the solution. I called Schwab IT department. After trying several things with her, she had me try holding my auto-rotate tablet length-wise to see if Gboard would come up, and it did. I then successfully logged in.

Pretty strange, but I'm not complaining.

Thank all of you very much for your time.

That works but hopefully they fix it still

Ah, I didn't realize you were holding the tablet in landscape orientation when trying to log in. I hadn't tested that (I was only holding it in portrait), but when I tried it just now, I did see the same problem. I can tell that the app isn't really intended to be used in landscape (at least for the login screen) because in that orientation, the app doesn't adjust to fill the whole screen. I would send feedback to the app developers and let them know about this.

Glad you found the solution and shared it with us!

Tech support offered a great suggestion with the rotation

It's reassuring that you corroborated the problem/solution on your tab m9. Thanks again for your time.
