Tablet slowed down with 5.0

I feel bad for you guys but honestly you have to known that performance would have probably been slower before you updated. It's time to upgrade or go with other custom roms and don't think for a second the inevitable 5.0.1 update will make it any faster

Stop trolling.

It's not a matter of our devices just being slower, it's about them being crippled so that even basic inputs can take minutes to register.

The Nexus 7 2012 worked perfectly before being updated to 5.0, and for those that have been to the extremes to get it working again, it's still a solid performer.

Unfortunately, for the average user, having to go through all those steps isn't something they'd think of (or may even be a little daunting).

Heh, I'm not mad at you. Not even sure if that is evident in anything other than the opening line ;)

I'm well aware of how the tech world works, but rather than give out an update that crippled a generation, I'd like to have either been given something completely stable, or (like most products that have reached the end of their lives) not have been given the update at all.

I'm not sure if it's down to a lack or testing on Google's part, or if the end user is expected to factory reset in order to update properly, but I do hope that Google do SOMETHING to help address users issues.

On my N7 2012 the only issue after updating to Lollipop is that Chrome slows to a crawl and crashes, especially on Facebook. (I refuse to install the FB app, as it is such a resource hog.) Although it happens on other sites, too, and in Dolphin Browser, as well. I tried doing a cache partition wipe, but that didn't help.
After turning on the CPU Usage overlay in Developer Options in noticed that the major slowdown seems to occur in IO interrupt time (blue bar). If this is the cause, then it seems that the problem might be hardware based, and therefore probably not fixable via another software update. Sadly, I think I'll be looking for another tablet, unless some solution presents itself. Any other ideas?

Not all are slower. My 2012 N7 is still working better with 5.0 than it was with KitKat. I've seen a lot of Facebook being a problem (which I don't use). I still love the update and am happy to have it on my older tablet. Now I'm just trying to patiently wait for my 2013 LTE N7 to get the update.

So, less than a week after doing a factory reset to try to get Lollipop to work, my N7 has slowed to a crawl. Unless someone can give me a good reason not to, this weekend's project will be to revert back to KitKat, and write a strongly worded letter of complaint to Google. This is ridiculous.

I downloaded the OTA and it is awful! I have been using an app called Clean Master. When I run it, it seems to make my tablet run much better for a while. I have always used this app, but now I have to run it more often than I was before the update. But it really does help. There sure is a lot of apps that dont play well with Lollipop. Hope this gets fixed soon if possible.

I've stumbled onto what might be a workable fix without having to root and go back to KitKat. While on another site I came across this link https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/EWUtW5-fVrE[1-25]

In it are a number of settings changes. I've made them and can say my N7 is actually usable. I can use chrome with multiple tabs open. Being able to change pages and have a somewhat reasonable user experience. I can't say it is 100% back to pre lollipop, but it is a night a day difference at this point. I've only used it for about an hour, but before this, I wasn't able to use it for an hour. It was more like 10 minutes before the N7 stalled out and had to be hard shut down.

The settings took maybe a half hour to do but so far, a half-hour well spent. I recommend you give it a try.
