Tablets are completely useless/crap and pointless!!

My VivoTab Note 8 just died, broken USB and it won't charge. I used it everyday.

Also gave my ThinkPad away to a friend, now still contemplating getting an X1 Tablet to replace it.

Re: Tablets are completely useless and pointless!!

I totally agree I love reading, watching movies (projected or on screen), drawing etc. on my Lenovo Tab!!!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7" and all I use it for is reading and watching movies and I let other family members use it for games.

I only agree that 7" tablets are useless. 9"+ please.

Ha, I'm the opposite! I love my 7" Nexus 7 2013 and 8" iPad Mini 4. I also have a Nexus 9 LTE and I find that size a bit unwieldy.

The problem I have with my Nexus 7" is that it offers such a small size increase to my 5.5" phone. It's hard to justify a completely new device for an extra 1.5" of screen real-estate.

Just did some calculations:

7" screen: 94 x 151 mm = 14,194 sq mm = 22 sq in
5.5" screen: 68 x 122 mm = 8296 sq mm = 12.89 sq in

So a 7" screen gives you 70% more area than a 5.5" screen. Easy to forget when you're only thinking of the diagonal measurement!:)

Tablets will never be a laptop substitute. It's totally different usage (at least for me). Although I used big screen phone, I still need my ipad to read ebooks, and sometimes watch movie.

Holy Christmas... what an essay! After all of that, I totally DISAGREE!

I have a Note 10.1 tablet that I use for movies when I'm lying down, also a Galaxy Tab 3 for portable viewing and reading books/comics. I'm so deep in Samsung ecosystem it's not even funny.

So do you also have a Gear watch, a Gear VR, a Samsung Chromebook, a Samsung smart belt, a Galaxy washer/dryer ... ;)

Everything has its place, including tablets. My phone has a 5.5 inch screen, my iPad Mini 2 is 7.9 inches, the difference while using the two devices is massive. I couldn't watch anything but the odd YouTube video on my phone without it being a bit uncomfortable on my eyes, I've watched hours of sport on my iPad with no problem. Its also fantastic for reading, and I read a lot.

My Laptop also serves a purpose, I work from home and a lot of the software I use isn't available on iOS.

Like I said everything has its place and tablets are still an important device to plenty.

I like my Nexus 7 tablet for reading and watching videos. It doesn't get as much use as my 5.7" Moto X Pure Edition, but it gets more use than my phone for reading/watching videos.

10.1 inch Acer. Use it for MLB At Bat, reading, and computer when travelling. Wifi only.

Tablet is big enough for other half to use without grabbing a power or navigation button

Samsung Galaxy Tab4 7.0 + GoneMAD music player + Listen audiobook player + 128GB micro sd card = your best new car stereo for under $170.

I use my Note 10.1 daily for sure! Laptop/desktop is great for inputting information... reports, spreadsheets, etc; but the tablet is great for extracting that information on the move. I read e-books, watch movies, etc .. anything that I want a bigger screen for. Tablet for me is important everyday.
