Same reply to a G5 owner then..
Who the hell needs... <insert LG Friend here>?
Their battery module would be useful. I wish LG would make one. I dont want to carry a spare battery around, and have to reboot every time I need to switch, plus worry about charging both every night.
Forget the modules and put in a 4000 mAh battery and a headphone jack and hdmi out. #practicalTheir battery module would be useful. I wish LG would make one. I dont want to carry a spare battery around, and have to reboot every time I need to switch, plus worry about charging both every night.
It is odd to see people hating on the mods for the G5 when that was its nitch -- but now that Moto is doing it they don't matter now? Just odd to see such a swing.
I could care less about add-on modules, That had nothing to do with my decision to buy the LG G5, why would I want something else to pack around. While I think it is Kinda cool you can add things to your phone, it would lose it's apeal fast, no matter how fast and easy they make it. Do you still pack around a Camera or do you just use your phone? Do you still use a day planner or do you use your phone? I-pod or phone? It is pretty plain to me all the Modules would be sitting in a drawer after a while, right next to your point and shoot camera and i-pod.
I'm talking about a projector in particular..... I didn't buy the G5 for its friends and by the way the friends aren't all modular and can be used with other phones besides the G5 so that's the difference.

I think this thread really belongs in the Moto section.

So calling out one specific MotoMod?
Again, just like the G5, people can buy a Moto Z and not use any of the add-ons.

There aren't that many to call out that are worth talking about I don't care for the bulky add on battery either.
If you don't get the mods for the Moto there isn't much reason to get one. They way they treat their customers is reason enough not to.

Just like there's no reason to buy a G5.

I agree.
MotoMods is executed in a way better manner than LG's "Friends". They are easy to operate, can be attached and removed without doing a battery pull and subsequently powering-off the device and there are way more of these mods at launch, many of which are actually USEFUL.
However, I still long for the day where we can get a phone that has little-to-no compromise on its own and also has a universally-adopted modular standard that adds neat extras to the phone rather than adding what can technically be done without going for a modular design.
Everyone sees phones differently, but to me, the G5 had to sacrifice some build-quality and durability for its implementation while Motorola/Lenovo had to make the standard Moto Z really thin in order to ensure that the mods don't add extra bulk, but in the process, stuffed a small 2600mAh battery.I don't see the G5 or Moto Z making significant compromises to enable their Friends and MotoMods though.

The closest to my dream would be the Moto Z Force. Reasonably thick and has a pretty large 3,500mAh battery, which also means adding a power pack mod to it would make it last even longer.
I think had Moto made the standard model slightly thicker to accommodate a battery of a decent capacity, users might not be so sour. Just my 2 cents.
The lack of headphone jack is a total bummer for me. Maybe I'm old fashion and I don't want to carry around an adapter. I literally have a pair of headphones in a pocket of everyone one of my jackets. This would force me to have an adapter too. It just seems like they jumped the gun on removing it. Also, can you charge and listen to music simultaneously? For instance, when I'm using the GPS in my car. I'll often use the auxiliary jack to hear directions out of my speakers and sometimes I need to charge at the same time. Now I can't? I guess we'll see how this plays out.
