Since the most recent OTA update, task manager has been appearing among the applications in my battery last. Usage varies but going from a full charge to 10% battery task manager shows it's used between 8 and 12 percent of my battery. before the update task manager was never reflected in my list. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if there's a remedy. Trying to maximize as much battery life as I can.

Its actually harder than it appears. I make it look easy.

Same here, and no remedy that I've seen. That said I'm still getting roughly the same battery life..

The only odd bit is that under CPU usage it says 10 minutes...out of 14 hours off charger?

Thanks. Oddly enough although my battery percentage usage is slightly higher than yours, Im also showing cpu at 12-14 minutes in 13 or so hours. Side note, the wife updated her note 3 at the same time. task manager isn't showing in hers usage list.... I'll keep an eye on it and see if there's any significant change in battery life.

Well, yeah. This was with high usage. If I'm just texting facebooking then task manager is much much higher. Now that I think of it, task manager wasn't on the list until four or five days after the update..so.. I don't know. I'll probably reset.

Let me know if you find a less annoying solution as I reset right after I tool the update to avoid bugs like this.

Idea: around the time I noticed this showing up I had just added the active apps widget...aka task manager..this might be why? Just removed it. Will update this thread after a few battery cycles

Let me know how it turns out. For what it's worth, I don't use the active apps widget so this is not likely my issue. I would consider myself a heavy user. I work remotely and text email and surf regularly. Need to squeeze as much battery as I can. Unfortunately now that I know it's there it bugs me whenever I look seeing it appear. Not sure if my device is in a loop of some sort trying repeatedly to close an app or function but unable to do so....

Well I wound up resetting last night. Reinstalled all my apps...annnd.. task manager is no longer in the list at all.

YMMV. this is my first complete charge - discharge.

Edit: I'm not by any means encouraging a reset. It worked for me but..it may not for you. I hadn't really set everything up anyway as I had reset after 4.4.4 so it wasn't that big a deal.

Thanks, honestly I hate the thought of setting up my phone again, so for me I think I'll just live with it for now. I don't think the battery usage is significant enough to outweigh the time and effort it will take to reset my device. Thanks for the update as I know that might be able option.

Understood. I tried everything before finally caving in. It isn't a significant use...even with moderate use I was still getting like 14 hours off charge with a ton of battery life. Lots of LTE data use too. Neglible use of batt...I'm just ocd about it. We're not alone though. Some others reporting task manager usage.

I'm apparently not understanding what the big deal is with this? I must be missing something, would someone please explain?

Before updating to 4.4.4 the "task manager" wasn't reflected in battery usage among the list of apps and processes consuming battery. After updating it's appearing in some devices reflecting varying degrees of battery consumption. This past Saturday task manager was #2 at 18% behind screen in terms of battery consumption. I see that as odd and was not an issue before the update. As with some updates this appears to be some sort of bug affecting some and not others.
