Tbolt owners: do you have "phone envy"?

it seems that the huge majority of people has had minimal problems with the Tbolt, which sounds like most phones. every phone out there (accept maybe the I-phone ) has had some bugs or problems. personally, my problems with the tbolt have been minor, not enough to trade it in, kick it across the floor, etc. the nightmares that I heard back in June made me actually wipe it off my "possible" upgrade options. then I stepped back and realized, people DO exaggerate, and the "bugs" should be worked out by November. my battery life has been much, much better than I had heard, with the stock battery. this was probably my biggest sticking point. I unplugged @ 6:55am this morning, and I'm still at 91% right now, 3.5 hours later. on average, I lose about 3% an hour. Yes, there are phones with brighter colors, yes there are phones with faster processors, and yes, there are phones with bigger screens. but ya know what? I think we have the best combination of all of those things. I will rock my Tbolt for another 19 month happily...and maybe even longer!

Nope even the yPhone has bugs too. remember the antenna issue?

I have had my Thunderbolt for about a month now and love it! I had a little problem with a dead pixel but was able to exchange it pretty easily.

Although the Razr, Rezound, and Nexus look appealing, I couldn't justify spending $299 for one. My only reason for getting one was cool factor. I was able to get my Tbolt on Black Friday for free.

anybody who got their phone on or around BF, no matter what phone (but especially TB!) is a winner. My upgrade day was the day after, and Best Buy was still running black friday type sales. I surely would have gone with the Rezound if the deal would have applied to me, and I KNEW about it. someone here in the forum told me about it the day after I had my Tbolts. if I'm not mistaken, the deal only applied to new verizon customers? not sure it applied to us "upgraders". either way, FREE is always the best deal!!

I almost miss my bolt but it went to my cosuin who really wanted a smartphone so now ole bolt has a new home. She's loving the bolt, and hasn't dropped it yet either lmao. If she gets a new phone I get the bolt back but I think I'll just root it then cause I got the nexus for my bday

Which ROM is that? I installed several custom ROMs on my Incredible, but I've yet to install any on the Thunderbolt. Do the custom ROMs for the Thunderbolt have the magnifying glass and pins like stock?

I am just curious in what aspects you felt the Rezound is better than the Thunderbolt? Having used both phones, the Rezound seems to be an improvement on the Thunderbolt.

Display - 384,000 vs 921,600 pixels. The very small text on my Rezound is sharp, same size text on my Thunderbolt is fuzzy. Overall though, a noticeable substantial but not a huge improvement.

Camera - I think the Rezound is slightly better plus it has 1080p video recording (Thunderbolt has 720p).

Speed - Rezound is slightly faster. Again, noticeable substantial but not a huge improvement.

Data Connection - I have found that the Rezound has better data, especially because I am sometimes in an area of weak signal, and the Thunderbolt would sometimes drop out and take a long time to recover. Speed wise, my peak on the Thunderbolt was about 25mbps, on my Rezound, I was able to get 44mbps. With the latest radio, the Thunderbolt radio is good, but personally I feel the Rezound radio is slightly better.

Storage - The Rezound has 16gb internal/16gb sd card, which translates to about 2gb on phone, 10gb internal, and 16gb sd card. Thunderbolt has about 2gb on phone, and 32gb sd card. So you can add the internal storage with the sd card for a little more storage.

The Rezound also has other things like beats, mhl capability, and guaranteed ics without the need for root which may or may not matter to some people.

I am not saying that the Thunderbolt is bad, but to me, stock for stock, the Rezound is slightly better in almost every area.

Of course, the Thunderbolt has better dev support if that is important to you.

I loved my Thunderbolt, but I see no issues with build quality or form factor with the Galaxy Nexus.

If the Thunderbolt wasn't a great phone I wouldn't have given it to my mother, however the fact that a thread like this was even created shows a bit of envy.

I am by no means saying the Thunderbolt is a bad phone. In fact if the Nexus wouldn't have come out, I would have waited for something else because the Razr and the Rezound just don't really cut it for me. The Thunderbolt certainly has been a pretty future-proof phone. It was longevity that made me go for the Nexus as well.

I must say I do miss the kickstand though.

While other phones (including the rezound) may technically be "better", they are in ways that are marginal improvements or that don't affect the primary use, or simply don't matter. I see nothing here that makes me lust after a new phone.

Regarding any benefits of the TB over rezound, I am unsure. Does rezound do data and voice simultaneously? Is there any benefit over HTC version of android versus Samsung? Maybe some people prefer HTC hardware over Samsung for some reason.

OK...so I MAY have a bit of phone envy. just a dot. seriously, my primary reason for starting this thread was to see if my perception of "phone envy" was real, or fabricated. I am of the mindset that newest is not always the best, I've been that way about everything. I know a few people who won't part with the the first iteration of the droid, because it does exactly everything they need/want. they've been eligible for upgrade for over a year, and personally, I commend them. I know for a fact that in 19 months I will be grabbing my next phone, but by then, I'm sure my Tbolt will have run it's course, and MAYBE we won't have these stupid DATA outages mad like what we're having right now. from what I can gather, everyone has a bit of phone envy. even me

What are you referring to when you say magnifying glass and pins?

The stock version of HTC Sense has a magnifying pop-up and pins for precision when selecting text to cut or copy. I wanted to know if I would loose that feature if I ditched the stock ROM.

Jude526 said that the TB was better than the Rezound. I respectfully disagree with her on that point. I think the Rezound is better than the Thunderbolt, not miles better by any means, but still better.

What's important to some may not be that important to others. To me, the better screen and better/more solid data connection was worth it for me to upgrade, especially an essentially "free" upgrade.

And yes, the Thunderbolt, Rezound and all 4G phones do data and voice simultaneously on 4G. The Thunderbolt and Rezound also does data and voice simultaneously on 3G.

I understand. I certainly wouldn't envy the Rezound or the Razr if I were you. I've tried both and while the Rezound is technically better, the whole reason I didn't upgrade to it is because it was so similar to the Thunderbolt that it would have basically been a wasted upgrade. Be happy with your Thunderbolt because it keeps getting better.

For people who don't feel like dropping $250+ on a phone or if you don't like being an earlier adopter, the Thunderbolt is a great phone and like I said it keeps getting better by the month.

Let's just hope HTC decides to do the right thing by upgrading it to ICS because it really is a solid phone now and it sold a lot.
