Tbolt owners: do you have "phone envy"?

Over the last 10 years, this is the longest that I have kept a phone without upgrading to the newest thing out there. The reason? Nothing is a big enough leap forward. Almost like technology has finally slowed down. My Thunderbolt does everything I want it to do and I still keep finding new things that it can do that I had no idea about! And it still looks like it is right out of the box. Best built phone I have ever had. The early bugs were no surprise. That's to be expected with a brand new device on a brand new network. But for every phone since? No way am I going to go from perfect back to bug filled "new & improved".;)

The stock version of HTC Sense has a magnifying pop-up and pins for precision when selecting text to cut or copy. I wanted to know if I would loose that feature if I ditched the stock ROM.

Hey, sorry for the late response. That is a Sense feature and was still present on Mik Runny 1.0. I'm on a new rom right now, iKReam.what.thee.rom. Its based on 605.9 with Sense 2.1 and Android 2.3.4 and has been themed. It works great and looks nice. Check it out.

Agreed wholeheartedly. The way I look at it is not that technology has slowed, but that the ThunderBolt was far ahead of its time. Today, the competition is "almost there", but I'll take the virtually perfect operation of my ThunderBolt any day over any of the new offerings with the associated growing pains. The ThunderBolt is fully mature, bug-fixed, and technology current. My kind of phone. Oh wait... I think this is where "it just works" comes in! :D

perfectly stated!! I hate to brag, but now that we have 4G back...youtube looks so beautiful!! unlimited data is a wonderful thing....:p

yeah i'm glad i have unlimited data

VZW FTW

and I've been hearing some nasty rumors that those of us lucky enough to still have it won't much longer....but we shall see. they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead, clammy paws...oh wait...all they need to do is flip a switch. ....crap. :'(

The phrase CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT comes to mind, when you said that. Im pretty sure my contract is a legal binding agreement, where it spells out what services are rendered for what moneys I must pay. Now what happens after your contract is up is semi-negotiable.

My biggest problems with my thunderbolt are random shut downs (had 3 tb with the same problem) and dropped data signal in weak signal areas like in my house. In the same areas where I have problems with data connection, my Rezound has been solid, no problems. Perhaps I got 3 bad thunderbolts, i don't know. I may still try to get a 4th thunderbolt since I still have warranty.

links to said rumors?

damn that sucks if true.   :-\ :'( :-X

I have very little envy. Saying this 6 months after purchase and like 9 months after the phone's release should be saying something. Sure a super amoled screen would be nice. But I can barely tell the difference with my perfect eyesight. Sure dual core would be nice but the marginal difference is so small. HDMI out would have been nice too but I don't know anyone who actually uses it on a phone that has it. Phones are going to have to make a bigger tech jump to get me envious and motivate me to switch.

I'm not all that great with links and stuff...but what would I have to gain by lying? I know I read it somewhere on the 'net, could've been in a blog, another droid site, etc. like I said, it's just a rumor, but with all the changes VZW is making, it wouldn't surprize me if they DID do away with OUR unlimited data as well. but someone else posted "class action lawsuit" above, so that puts me a bit more at ease. I guess the point is enjoy it while we have it, because we may not tomorrow!!!

Imo, Verizon won't change anything for those customers still on contract. My guess would be that if and when they do change, it would apply to those who want to buy subsidized phones, but those buying at full retail won't be affected. Again, just my guess, as no one really knows at this time.

I have provider envy more than phone envy. $45 unlimited everything plan sounds good to me.

now THAT'S valid. just a gut feeling, but I don't think that will last too much longer for new sprint customers. I feel that sprint will do something similar to what we have, grandfather you over to the unlimited plan, but I bet they set a cutoff date, and of course, that's when tons more people will jump over to them, or join outright.

I've had cell phones for over 20 years and only know VZW. I think I need to try someone else even if i just come back in 2 years. Of course the risk is losing unlimited data so as long as VZW continues to grandfather me i'll have to think twice.

not saying that you were. no harm, no foul. you know we're limited on how we "express" ourselves in written communication. you probably wanted to confirm what I was saying. again, no worries here. ;)

Wife got a Galaxy Nexus yesterday and it will be returned today. Not picking up 4g signal, browser is useless, and the speaker is way too quiet. Just made me love my Thunderbolt even more. Thinking that is what we will exchange it for!

I hated the Thunderbolt. Crappy battery life, signal that went in and out almost constantly. I used the phone until the Charge came out and never looked back.

The Charge is a nice phone, but honestly nowhere near the level of my Tbolt.
