Verizon launch was not weak. Alot of people that wanted iphones but are on verizon are stuck in contracts with androids.

If the iphone came out on verizon before the droidx and incredible droid would not be so popular.

There was a report that Vzw would give some sort of rebate back for existing customers to switch early to the iPhone. I don't know how widely know they made the offer, but it was on the front page soon after the initial announcement.

To get the rebate, you had to buy an iPhone at full retail and mail your recently purchased device back to Verizon for up to a $200 rebate card

the fact that you still had to spend $650-750 out of pocket, i'm sure, turned a lot of people off

Yeah but at the same time it does show one thing. Look at people who bought it on AT&T pre orders were sold out lines at apple stores and at AT&T stores selling out. With Verizon You did sell out the pre-orders but it seemed to have died out with any hype. For all the talk on forums and news that people would leave AT&T for a verizon iphone i dont know. Also if people wanted the iphone that bad they would of bought off contract i know dozens of people who bought them off contract on AT&T.

There's a big difference: Its February, not June. People COULDN'T wait in lines in the majority of the country, because of sub-freezing temperatures.

There are also a lot of people stuck in contracts on Verizon that wouldn't pony up for the off-contract price, or people that are just willing to wait for the new version this summer.

Maybe so buy its not freezing across the US. Bgr has released numbers from apple stores on iPhone 4 sales and they're really close to each other. With verizon winning the front by a very slim margin.

During launch it was. It was below freezing in a majority of this country.

On that Kyocera - it looks like a Nintendo DSi. That way my impression on first sight!
