Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Also got the Zizo. So far so good.

Anyone else noticing that the zizo is just really bad at getting dirty? Have had many many screen protectors, and never seen this before. Replacement should be showing up soon, hopeful to remove this awful rainbow/oily affect.

Curious if anyone has found anything new/better yet?

A week into this screen protector, it kind of reminds me of a glass version of the iVisorXT I had on my Galaxy S4. That rainbow effect in particular. Your replacement unit will suffer the same fate.

And yes I have never seen anything yet so smudgy and dirty.

Great ... :(

Just looking at Amazon lg v20 glass screen protectors, it's like our recent election. Picking between only bad choices. Too soon? haha

Just ordered the ArmorSuit film protector. I hate having to sacrifice the glass, but I don't see any real better option right now.

I use the Zizo also. It installed easily with no rainbow or lifting. You do have to make sure it's fitted perfectly. The only issue is that it smudges worse than any other tempered glass i have. All phone screens and protectors smudge, but the Zizo really shows everything. I can deal with that. They give you a cloth that cleans it very well so i just keep it handy.

I'm now using the ArmorSuit wet film and it's definitely the best choice for now. After 5 tempered glass and 2 wet film failures, this is by far the best choice. Only gripe is the cutouts for the camera as debris can get caught up there.

I wanted to add a little tip for those that complained about fingerprints on the Zizo. It did seem to smudge worse than any I had tried but I also wear glasses and remembered a trick for them. Clean the Zizo protector well with a lens cleaning solution or antistatic screen cleaner. Once it is perfectly clean get a real soft cloth and spray a small amount of Pledge on the screen. Then wipe the screen in overlapping circles until all the pledge is worked in and the screen is again crystal clear. It's not a perfect fix but it helps with smudges, offers a bit of liquid protection, and even Buffs out small scratches.

I tried something similar. Monster screen cleaner is supposed to add an oleophobic coating. Not so much.

Ya. Pledge has to be applied sparingly and only helps a little. At least the screen looks nice after.

Any updates here? Has anyone discovered a glass screen protector that is worthwhile?

My ArmorSuit is holding up, but obviously just doesn't compare to glass.

I went with a film screen protector for now until someone actually comes out with a good glass protector. I got the IQ Shield Matte full coverage, wet applied protector.

I actually really love this protector, it covers really well and the matte finish takes the screen glare away completely.

So I ordered the Zizo Screen Protector too, and even got a replacement one since there was a smudge on the original. I too had the rainbow effect for both protectors, and I was extremely careful installing the new one and made sure to press down the middle of the screen first. Both were also very susceptible to smudges, I have to wipe my screen like crazy!

The black border is “necessary” because it hides the adhesive they use. It didn’t feel like there was any adhesive on the clear part of the protector, which explains the rainbow effect since the protector never makes full contact with the screen (I’ve seen a similar rainbow effect with Otter boxes that have built in screen protectors.) My guess is they use a little stronger adhesive than whatever is used to keep regular tempered glass protectors on, so that the black edges sticks to the curved parts of the phone more – but slightly lifts up the middle of the protector because of it. I think that’s how they managed to get ‘complete’ coverage on a curved screen.

I say ‘complete’ in quotes because there is some room on the sides that isn’t covered like previously stated by others. Also, even though the top and bottom completely covers the screen there is some slight overhang. I noticed this when I would see small hairs or strands ‘stick’ to the top and bottom of the protector. Also when I removed my first scree protector, I could see a distinct line of dust on the top and bottom, and even a little on the sides. The screen clearly isn’t completely sticking to the phone.

The crazy thing is, even after all these complaints it seems I still prefer this protector to one that doesn’t cover the whole screen. I don’t even think it’s from a protection standpoint, I think despite it being a smudgy, rainbow oily effect screen I prefer the looks of one that completely covers the phone to one that doesn’t. Here I thought I was done with all this curved screen/non-fitting nonsense when I switched over from Samsung. It’s sad that all tempered glass screen protectors and phone manufacturers has disappointed me to the point that the Zizo looks like the best option to me.20161201_231116.jpg

Same experience here. I also had an area of smudge defect. And I have a replacement that I have waiting to install should this one crack.

Is it worth it then? I have it in the box at home but so far have just left the factory installed protector on mine.

I still like it. It cleans up just fine and since it covers the whole screen (save for the very edges of the sides which are raised) I feel much more confident with its protection. I'd rather have this than a less smudgy non rainbow screen protector that leaves the top and bottom exposed
