Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I'm hoping to go to the mall later where there's a Zagg dealership who's installed a screen protector on my last 4 phones.

I'm not sure if they even have one for the V20 yet but if I'm able to get it installed I'll let everyone know how it works out and what the coverage area is for the V20 from Zagg.
So what happened?

Never got a screen protector and thus far all goooood
Same boat here. Rocking screen protector that came on phone from vzw. Just have an itch to buy accessories! LOL Bought a bunch of chargers and cables and adapters and 2 cases so screen gets attention next

I'm the same way normally but I'm holding off.

I have a feeling I just may be itching for the S8 when it's released later this year haaaaa?!?!

I may wait for the Note 8 but I'm liking the V20 much more than expected so this may be a keeper.

Welp, the Ringke is garbage, stay away. Doesn't cover top, bottom or even the sides. It's VERY small and there's still a halo effect.

This is beyond frustrating.

After 6 glass screen protectors and 2 film protectors, #9 appears to be a winner.

The skinomi matte film protector: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M97TSLO/ref=cm_sw_su_dp?tag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5643156

Obviously does not have the feel of glass, but considering the design of the v20 and the limited options, this by far wins. The installation was super easy, the feel is good and the look is solid. My only qualm thus far is that the sharpness of the screen is slightly dulled due to the matte finish; however, the lack of ANY debris/smudge/fingerprints/etc. far makes up for it.

As of now, this is hands down the winner.

I have the clear version

and fairly satisfied. Installation is easy, full coverage, appearance isn't bad, feels not that great, but no impact on response. Still want glass.. But that looks like it won't happen.

I had the clear one as well, but it dinged up too easily and glare was rough at times. I was happy with it but I removed it try the Ringke and after that dud, u swapped to this which I'm overall more pleased with.

Yeah sadly, doesn't appear we'll ever see a proper glass protector for this phone, bummer.

Agreed. The clear is dinged up pretty good in a couple spots after 10 days of usage.

I'm using the cheap VZW version because I needed somebody else to put it on for me. It doesn't cover the top or bottom of the screen but feels smooth and may help. protect the screen in a fall. I will certainly prevent surface scratches so the next person to get my phone will have a nice screen. It does get clouded with oil from fingers but the screen does too. I don't think it is avoidable. I've never had an oleophobic screen protector that actually prevented fingerprints or smudges.

I'm still using a glass V10 one with halo at top. I tried about 6 different ones. I can't go back to film...I just live with the Halo. Honestly.... It's not that horrible but my OCD does make it irritating.

I haven't had to use a film protector in years. When I tried the first couple on this, I hated them ... largely due to the feel. This Skinomi matte finish though, honestly, it's not bad at all. Given our options (or lack thereof), after 9 protectors ... I'd absolutely say it's the best on the market.

I was just going to post that imo the Skinomi matte isn't bad in regards to "feel", and definitely better than clear. Also, application of the matte seemed easier. Think it will ding up like the clear..but with no other option...

5 days later and after a flight/travel (constant in and out of pockets/backpack), no dings thus far. The clear was definitely dinged by now. May be luck, but so far still happy.

So I ordered the Zizo Screen Protector too, and even got a replacement one since there was a smudge on the original. I too had the rainbow effect for both protectors, and I was extremely careful installing the new one and made sure to press down the middle of the screen first. Both were also very susceptible to smudges, I have to wipe my screen like crazy!

The black border is “necessary” because it hides the adhesive they use. It didn’t feel like there was any adhesive on the clear part of the protector, which explains the rainbow effect since the protector never makes full contact with the screen (I’ve seen a similar rainbow effect with Otter boxes that have built in screen protectors.) My guess is they use a little stronger adhesive than whatever is used to keep regular tempered glass protectors on, so that the black edges sticks to the curved parts of the phone more – but slightly lifts up the middle of the protector because of it. I think that’s how they managed to get ‘complete’ coverage on a curved screen.

I say ‘complete’ in quotes because there is some room on the sides that isn’t covered like previously stated by others. Also, even though the top and bottom completely covers the screen there is some slight overhang. I noticed this when I would see small hairs or strands ‘stick’ to the top and bottom of the protector. Also when I removed my first scree protector, I could see a distinct line of dust on the top and bottom, and even a little on the sides. The screen clearly isn’t completely sticking to the phone.

The crazy thing is, even after all these complaints it seems I still prefer this protector to one that doesn’t cover the whole screen. I don’t even think it’s from a protection standpoint, I think despite it being a smudgy, rainbow oily effect screen I prefer the looks of one that completely covers the phone to one that doesn’t. Here I thought I was done with all this curved screen/non-fitting nonsense when I switched over from Samsung. It’s sad that all tempered glass screen protectors and phone manufacturers has disappointed me to the point that the Zizo looks like the best option to me.View attachment 247603

My "Superguardz" screen protector looks just like this and I'm happy with it. I think the fraction of a millimeter left uncovered on the edges is fine because the edges of my tpu case prevent me from touching the very edge of the screen anyway. I have not noticed any rainbow effects or discoloration yet, but you can tell in the very middle of the screen that it may not be making full contact with the "actual" phone's screen. Hasn't caused me any problems though.
