tempRoot and remove bloatware

Im new to android stuff. I had windows roms and stuff mastered, but well.... lets not even talk about windows. I read about temporary rooting the EVO Shift, and removing the bloatware. Could someone please tell me how to get a temporary root done, and remove these hundreds of apps ill never use?

You need to download a temp unrooting software z4root and visionary + are the two. Visionary + is the only one that works for me, z4root does not let me delete files for some reason.

then you need a terminal emulator.

once in it ..
heres a printout from my terminal emulator...as a trick you can set the initial command in the options to run this and remove all the bloat just by opening the term emu (of course you rm whatever you want not just this list)....until we get perma root this is a good quick way to remove it everytime you reboot and temp root

make sure you remove .apk and .odex (if available)...you can us ls after cd system/app to list all the apk names in case theres others you wanna get rid of

these are some stock htc stuff that you may not use. Make sure that you are not using it before you turn it off. there are more complete directions in this thread..

DELETING (rm) SYSTEM FILES WILL KEEP YOU FROM EVER GETTING OTA UPDATES IN THE FUTURE!!!

You should FREEZE the bloat using either Titanium Backup Premium or Bloat Freezer, both available in the market.

Freezing makes the app not run and pretty much makes it invisible to your phone. You can then defrost the bloat at any time and it will be right back to the way it was.

firstly since we only have temp root, as soon as you reboot the phone all the bloatware comes back so there is nothing to worry about...secondly, the stock RUU is available to download and if for any reason you screw something up you can always flash the stock RUU and it will be like a brand new out of the box phone therefore you can get OTA updates again....third, DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY OTA UPDATES UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN POSTED HERE OR ON XDA UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE ROOT...OTA updates can wipe out root and patch up certain exploits potentially making root impossible in the future....the developers will take the OTA update and make it so it works with our rooted phones (once we get perma root of course)....so right now there is absolutely nothing to worry about

True, just throwing this out there for if and when you guys get a perm root.

Also if you guys get Unrevoked, you are always rooted no matter what an OTA update does, you just accept the OTA update, loose root, and then flash a zip with su and superuser.apk and you have root again because unrevoked permanently turns the S-OFF so the max you can loose root for is like 5 mins with unrevoked no matter what the OTA does, just throwing that out there incase you guys do get Unrevoked! Cool didn't know that...comin from the hero so I don't really know much about unrevoked....good to know
