I hardly ever get more than 1 or 2 bars of signal. I had good signal everywhere with all my old phones. I feel like this phone has some issues lol

Forget the bars, if you get data you're fine. If you can maintain 4G in a 4G area you're fine. It's been discussed many times, you can't use the bars on the Nexus as an indicator since they're not calibrated nearly the same as other LTE phones. Apparently the Nexus accurately reports signal strength whereas the other LTE phones don't.

Just take a quick look over this forum and you'll see there are tons of threads on the signal issues. Just be patient.

Aside from the "Terrible Signal" have you dropped a call yet?

Yeah, there is an issue with the phone where it only "Shows" a weak signal, but the G.Nexus is actually getting full signal. Verizon is currently working on a fix for it so that it shows the proper signal on the bars.

bars mean nothing. Are you losing data or dropping calls. Do a simple google search and you will find that the nexus displays the bars by how much actual signal you have whereas other phones have an inflated bar showing.

I lose data all day long and can't get connected sometimes. And I've never had this problem with a vzw phone

Experienced horrendous data and voice connectivity between NYC and BOS (route 95, 91, and 90 - not exactly in the woods) yesterday and today. Dropped all network signal and data atleast 9 times yesterday, 4 times today. I have done the same trip many other times with my previous Droid Pro, in fact never really lost any signal (maybe data here and there,) with that phone.

Still like the phone, hopefully its a software issue.

For what it's worth, I've tested side by side with my Dad's Droid Incredible and my Nexus consistently gets between 15 and 20 dbm lower in signal strength. Yes, I realize the bars don't really mean anything, so I'm measuring based on the About Phone>Signal numbers. I don't care about dropped calls because I barely make calls. I need a consistent data connection and even in places that are supposed to have 4G, I'm barely connecting to 3G. I really hope the "fix" they push includes more than just a bar display tweak.

Just out of curiosity, when you did the comparison test with your DINC, was your GN on 4G? Or did you turn off LTE and put the phone forcefully on 3G?

Here's a screenshot of my GNex (LTE turned off; that is, CDMA 3G only) versus a pic I took right after of my Dad's DInc (also on 3G). Note that the difference is more like 30 dbm...

Hmm. Interesting. -120dBm basically means that there is no signal strength at all. I assume that you waited long enough before you took the test - like at least 20~30 minutes, since sometimes it take time for the radio to adapt itself to 3G mode. Also, have you tried rebooting the phone after changing the mode to 3G? I also experienced virtually no signal when I changed the mode to 3G, and had to reboot the phone to get the normal 3G signal strength.

I've been through 2 Nexuses, 3 LTE SIMs, and tried it in both California and Ohio. I've battery pulled, rebooted, and reflashed the radios. Believe me, it's just bad;)

I'm right in the middle of my city and I'm getting 3g with no bars, can't even really use it lol.

What city? I remember hearing that there is a VZW data outage in the east coast area today.

Shreveport Louisiana. It was like this yesterday also. Not sure what the deal is

Have you really been through two of them? Because I'm thinking of trying another but your wink emoticon gives me pause. I think a switch is doubtful to work and maybe I should just ditch this in favor of the Rezound. I see no indication that anything will be done except fix the bars.

I have good looking signal with unresponsive web browser. have the same problem with WiFi.
