Test Kernels From Adrynalyne (updated 1/21)

Opps, somehow double posted

Test 6's audio is still popping just like before

I just flashed Test 2 voodoo(my first voodoo). Seems like its running fine.

The womans voice was pretty cool.

I do have a quick question that I haven't found the answer too yet. Does anyone have any documentation on the advanced features of Red CWM and what they each do? I'm a little afraid to try some not knowing what they do.

Thanks for the awesome kernel. I was previously running the 11/29 nonvoodoo and was having awesome battery life! Can't wait to get more into voodoo and see if I notice any significant improvements.

I know I've read if I don't notice any lag then I shouldn't need voodoo. I do notice some lags in certain situations and I'm not sure if voodoo will fix these or not.

Each time I've flashed these I get returned to a stock setup (w/o bloat). So I then just dl'd ROM Mgr, reloaded my backup, the kernel is there and all is right with the world, correct?

Hey i flashed test 2 voodoo and it's incredible. The best battery life i've had plus everything seems just so snappy. I was previously on non-voodoo 12/30 kernel. I didn't notice any music pops or anything else wrong. But just yesterday, i was trying to make a call in my car through bluetooth and there was no audio. It was working with the previous kernel, I thought maybe I should wipe the link with my car and set it up from scratch but that didn't work either. It's a very minor inconvenience to me and certainly won't get me to switch to a different kernel as this one is the best i've tried so far. But has anyone else encountered this?

UPDATE: I unpaired - paired, wiped what data was in my car (including my wife's old phone that was linked), didn't work, tried it a few more times and now it works... still a mystery to me but i must've done something wrong as usual. But up and running now.

Well I set my minimum cpu to 200 using setcpu like someone suggested and that fixed all of my audio popping issues, loving the kernel 10x more now :D

power button

Long press of the power button does not bring up a menu. It just reboots the phone. I am running Adrynalyne's Test 5 standard voltage nonvoodoo_0118 kernel/supah clean DL09.4. I tried both of the theme fix hax he posted in the DL09 thread, and neither has fixed the problem. Anybody have any solution?

This sounds like what happens when the little keyboard hack to disable the lock screen (and just bring the screen up from standby when the power button is pressed) is enabled. Before the hack - long press brings up the options menu. After the hack - phone shuts down.

Thanks gunner. Flashed blackmod enhanced and lock menu is working properly. I'm loving the look of the blackmod too. Seems like my battery is really draining with the sv_nv_0118. I think I will try the low voltage to see if that helps

Been in and out of the here and XDA and have not seen him active or posting in a few... I would bet he is part of that special inner circle..

I just have a question everyone says use 2 is there any issue with 5? and if i want to go from nonvoodo 5 to nonvoodoo 2 is it just an overwrite.

THIS LIST IS WHAT I HAVE DONE:

1. installed odin
2. put cwm red on phone
3. turned off lag fix
4. cleared cache
5. installed root
6. installed test 5
7. restarted

sorry im a noob at this and should have asked before i jumped in the fire....

is there a way to tell if the nonvoodoo test 5 is active like see what kernal im using? and is there a place to find common issues with test 5 and what it offers I was in another thread that suggested 5. I am using all stock stuff except for that list i gave you is there anything i should do or that you would suggest?

You can overwrite a kernel easily. Just don't put non-voodoo over voodoo without disabling voodoo first.

Kernels will behave differently on different phones. Test 2 non-voodoo worked good for me but test 2 voodoo did not. Just load one and try if for a few days. I thought most of the other test files were really for those having the CD rom issue. I never had it but I did run test 6 voodoo with no problems. Ran similar to test 2 voodoo for me.

is Adrynalyne's 12/30 kernel for DJ05 & DL09 in Rom Manager non-vodoo or vodoo? just wondering

I've been running test 5 for a day, so far so good. Used it off and on for email & web, as well as playing music for 3 hours while I snowblowed myself and a couple neighbors out after the blizzard last night. Add in my daughter playing puzzle games for about 2 hours as well and I still had 40% battery left at that point. Using the low voltage non-voodoo, pretty happy with that considering 3 hours of music with the stock kernel would have me under 40% easy.
