Tether App that works?

I'm looking for a good tethering app that works on this Tablet connecting to a Non Rooted HTC Thunderbolt. I have tried PdaNet Tablet(Beta) and yes it works but its kinda pain in the but to have to set server and port every time I want to tether it and it only works with the stock browser & dolphin and the Android market, but no Gmail and it stops working sporadically. I know if I root my Thunderbolt I can get wireless tether for it but I don't want to root it just yet. are there any good apps that will tether via Bluetooth or even USB? I have tried several and none will work via USB. I'm willing to pay for a app that will work. Just seeing if anyone out there knows of one that works? Please Help. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a good app but it requires root Shame its not possible to have an app that allows WiFi tether without rooting. I'm not all into paying Big Red to add wireless tether for an extra $20 per month .

Get used to it. I've posted a few things in the tablet forums with probably 500+ views, and no answers. Even a simple question in the A100 forum like "what's your battery life?". It goes along with my other post about no one buys Android tablets.

Anyway, East Tether is nice. They have a lite version that's free if you just want to test it out. It doesn't require root.

Get used to it. I've posted a few things in the tablet forums with probably 500+ views, and no answers. Even a simple question in the A100 forum like "what's your battery life?". It goes along with my other post about no one buys Android tablets.

Anyway, East Tether is nice. They have a lite version that's free if you just want to test it out. It doesn't require root.

I tried easy tether and cant seem to get it to work from my Thunderbolt to my A500. the setup says it will connect to a PC but says nothing about a tablet? Any clue on how to tether this tablet with my Thunderbolt?

why do you want to tether a tablet to your cellphone which has wifi?

doesnt make sense to me if you have your tablet connected to wifi why not just connect your tbolt to the wifi as well?

Sorry I may have worded it wrong. I want to use a tether app on my phone to connect to my A500 for the purpose of having internet and data usage on the A500 side. Meaning the phone supplies the data for the tablet not the other way around you may be thinking. Now do you get that way I have explained it? Sorry for the confusion.

I have almost decided to just root my phone and have the WiFi tether on my phone that way. since I can't find a app that works well yet. Unless I don't have PdaNet configured correctly cause it just doesn't work for the application I want to use it for.

Sometimes people look to see if it's something they can easily solve. Or get some info from concerning a problem of their own. Doesn't necessarily mean they have the answer.

I have no experience with tether, as I have a 501 and don't require it. But, most tether apps require root access as you said.

I would guess over half the people who browse the 500 forums, don't even own a 500 or 501. They just wish to see what's going on.

I suppose though, after the folks in the states get their OTA to 3.2, things will get pretty ... sporty when they find out they no longer have root access, and, they can't get it again due to the new Acer bootloader! And, there's no roll back!

thats why if your rooted you know you dont accept OTA updates...you just flash custom 3.2 ROMs after devs have it rooted

I have UNFAILINGLY used PDAnet on an unrooted LG Optimus V (Virgin Mobile) and check gmail repeatedly on a daily basis. I tether with USB connection, and...get better throughput of data tha. the 'fair' WiFi signal I usually ride on.
I haven't paid a dime nor do I EVER have to port or other things. I simply have downloaded and configured the PDAnet app on both my phone and Aspire netbook and connect effortlessly each and every time.
Though the PDAnet app reverts to strickly Hpp (non-secure) after like 30 days or so the license for full access and all future updates is a one time cost of $15.
When I get tired of just purging my apps and signing up monthly for another trial I will definitely pay for this very reliable app that ,by the way,also has 'hide tether ' configuration option.
I haven't the foggiest idea why you've had such troubles but I'm here to tell you that on a non- rooted Optimus V phone there's NO BETTER TETHERING APP.

Finally decided to decloak and make my first post... Check out the Foxfi app in the Play Store. Works great on my non-rooted DX.

If it helps anyone, I'm using FoxFi and PDANet on my Thunderbolt (unrooted) to teether to my Transformer Prime.

It works, but it won't work with certain apps, like Netflix. They won't recognize the Bluetooth internet connection.

I'm considering rooting too to get WiFi tether, but would really prefer not to. I've done a lot of googling and I just don't think there is any other answer.

Why do you need a Bluetooth internet connection? Can't you use Foxfi to make your phone a wifi hotspot, and then turn on wifi on your tablet?

He already answered that. With his phone he has to root to get tethering.

Actually, the OP didn't specify if it was Foxfi or PDAnet that didn't work with all of his apps. The reason I was asking was that I thought Foxfi doesn't require rooting, and therefore doesn't require Bluetooth.
