Right now I tether by BlackBerry using an app called Tether ($50). How can I do the same with the Bionic?

As long as you want to root your phone tethering with android is easy. Free app from the marketplace easy tether. Or if you want the hot spot you can get the crack for that from team black hat, I am guessing it will be the same as the one out now, but if not they will update it I am sure. And that app costs $1.99, but I am sure you will get roms for the bionic as well.
There are also other ways to do it.

Since I'll be new to Android I probably won't root for at least 6 months.

Is there a way to tether without root permissions?

If not I may have to just go for it earlier than I planned.

Wrote the wrong program there wireless tether for root users will do it on root. But wireless tether is $9.95 on the market and will do it without root.

One time fee. You just have to watch your data since verizon does not allow it without paying for it. So use too much and you are at risk of being found out and being charged.

Yes, understood. Thanks! I stay at around 1-2 GB/month using the tether app on BlackBerry. Haven't had any issues.

I use PDANet on my DINC. I paid for the full version so that I can use it on all websites. Since I purchased it in the andriod market, I assume that I will be able to download it and use it the same on either the Bionic or the HTC TB? Is my thinking wrong here or will I have to do something different?

May want to check the license info. Many times, software is non-transferrable. And they ensure it by getting information about your phone (for BlackBerry they like to use the PIN number).

I guess the question will be if you can use those programs to tether with the LTE data or not... Could require a lot of tweaking on the devs' part to get it to work again.

damn, i didnt even think about the LTE technology possibly being different in respects to wireless tethering. i hope it goes well. is there work arounds for EVO 4g service? if so, thats a good sign.
