Tether

my friend bought a vibrant a couple of months ago and asked me if she can thether it. i dont have a vibrant so im not sure the steps. can i do this without having to root her phone? i dont mind rooting, but i dont want to with someone elses phone.

There are non-root tethering apps available on the Market, such as PdaNet.

You can also root and download the free Wireless Tether app from the Market.

im pretty sure you can tether both via usb or wirelessly without rooting your phone if youve already updated to 2.2. it should be in your wireless settings.

thanks for the tip phoenix. i will let her know. she told me she was just going to use it every now and then at home when she needed to use her lappy. apparantly she has router issues at home. haha.

it shouldnt cost extra to tether unless youre using a prepaid/pay as you go plan or something.

im not sure about the throttling issue... but it sounds like something tmo would do.
