Tethering app features comparison?

I see there are several apps for tethering, via Wifi and USB. Has anyone done a features comparison list of them?

Ideally I'd like it to tether by USB, able to access secure sites, $0.00 price. I bet it's one of those "pick any two features" deals, eh? Like good/fast/cheap, pick two.

I'll be needing to access my online store website, which has a secure login for administration. Hopefully there will be WiFi where I'll be in Oklahoma City but if not, having the Epic to fall back on for a connection to my laptop will be a very good thing.

I won't be able to help you with a comparison but I can tell you of what I'm using. I use easy tether and it works great! I'm using the free version which means I can't access any secure web sites. I connect via USB and its pretty painless and straight forward to use. I most likely will pay the 10 bucks for access to secure sites once my classes begin next week. I can't always find a starbucks and I'm very wary of doing my personal work on a public network! Its VERY useful to have when I need access to my laptop anywhere when I'm on the go!

Do you have to root for tethering?

I haven't done any indepth searching yet, but so far it seems that way, at least for any of the decent apps.

I didn't use it much on my pre-, but it came in handy now and again when I was stuck or a clients with a downed internet and I needed to look up a password on our customer management system (active-x based https, so I needed to use my laptop)
