Android Central Question

I have an Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 with Android 11 installed. Recently I've noticed that it's using data randomly. When I checked the Mobile Network Diagnostic, Tethering is inconstantly using up data, both uploading and downloading. I have my hotspot turned off and no other devices are connected to it, including Bluetooth devices. However, Tethering is still using data. Can anyone offer an explanation of why and if it's possible to stop this?

Welcome to Android Central! If it's just a minimal amount of data, maybe it's just communicating with your carrier to update how much tethering data is being used (since most carriers have a monthly limit of how much data can be tethered).
