Text makes sound even on silent mode

When I receive text message sometimes my phone makes sound even on silent mode. Most of the time it will vibrate like it is suppose to, but once in awhile it would make sound, and it is not the sound assigned to texting, it uses the "received call" ring tone. It was not a setting on particular person because it happens when different people who texted me, and sometimes it will just vibrate like it was suppose to for the same texter.

i had this problem once. i fixed mine by selecting the option to keep both the notification and ringtone volumes the same in the sound option. is your options set up this way or are they different values?

I actually just got this new phone, not sure how to make that setting, I will play around to see if I can change those setting to the way you have described, thanks!

are you talking about in menu-setting-volume, check the use incoming call volume for notifications? I already have that checked and it is doing that.
