Text Message Issue

Hey guys, I did a few searches for this topic, but never found anything. My stock message app (sms, etc) has been very very delayed lately. Everything from typing, to sending, to deleting, to even closing has been slow and delayed. Restarting the phone helps for a little bit, but then its back to normal. Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have ideas on how to fix this? Or are there better, faster messaging apps in the market that are reliable?? Thanks in advance!

How many messages do you have stored on your phone. You might want to delete some to clear up room. This might help

Yea, I have tried that often but it never seems to be the issue. I do appreciate the response though.

I have had this problem in the past when I had thousands of sms messages stored. I turned on the message limits in the preferences of the messages app and haven't had a problem since. Keep threads under 200 messages and you should be ok.

something else you may want to try if you havent already is turn the phone off and actually pull the battery out and let it sit for a while.
Its similar to pulling the negative battery cable on your car to clear up code related problems and operational issues related to the onboard computer.
Ive done it a couple times now when my phone "acts up" and its been helpful each time.
