Text messages getting shortened?

I don't think it's the fault of the M8 but I'm hoping someone is familiar with what causes this. I have a friend who says my texts to him get cut off after about 50 characters. I can send the same message to others and they don't get cut off. He gets long messages from others with no problem. It's only when I send messages to this specific person. Sound familiar at all?
