Text messages on screen

Is there a way to have text messages posted on the screen instead of going into text messages screen?

Not with the stock message app, I think.. Go SMS will do this, I believe, and maybe Handcent. Or you can try this app in combination with the stock message app:

If I recall, that won't work, I don't think apps are allowed to overlay on the stock lockscreen, but can on 3rd party lockscreens
