Text messages turn different colors, why?

I can't get Textra to have different notifications on a "contact" basis. Can't get the stock message app to do it either. This is on an Edge S7. Both apps only seem to use the default.

On textra if you have to click on a person who's already in a conversation with you and then click the down facing arrow at the top. A menu we come up. Click on customize this conversation. Then scroll down to notification. Pick whatever tone you want to use. On the stock app go to contacts. Pick a person then click edit. Scroll down click on more and that's where you will see the option to pick a ring tone for calls and messages.

I have android for few years now and newly purchased samsung galaxy 7. Using the standard text (not an app), I am aware of the blue and yellow colour from the sender and receiver. However, what if it's blue and GREEN colour ? Some text I send to - my reply is in green but some of my reply still in Yellow.
What does the GREEN reply means?

Hi, I sensed it was sort of enhanced SMS but how and why?? Most are still in Yellow but 2 of people on my list is turning green when I reply to those 2 people only. It could be because they're in my favorites - but one of them is not on my favorite list.

I have been sending text messages and some messages turn yellow or light blue. Does anyone know what the color change indicates

Even received messages turn colors

One color means it's a chat (sent over wifi) and the other color means it's a text ( sent over mibile data)
