Text messaging layout

Im thinking of buying the nexus 4 and this might sound stupid but I was wondering in the text messaging is there a way to turn off those profile box images? (Ie just text reply bubbles like on iphone) I really dont like or want a picture on the messages each time. Fussy yes, but Ive tried to find out but cant find any screenshots on the internet without it.

not sure about the stock messaging app but there are approximately 9 zillion SMS replacement apps in the play store. I'm sure one of them will do that for you.

I'm using Handcent and "show image" is an option in the settings.

I've been using Sliding Messaging for a couple of weeks, really damn good, smoother as the regular updates roll in, isn't trying to sell me crap, has dark and black themes, can disable contact pics (I like this option, too), personalize pulsing light color. The ONLY thing keeping me from using this as my only SMS/MMS is, currently, the lack of outgoing MMS. Yes, media cannot be sent by it presently so I use the stock Messaging app or Gmail otherwise Sliding is my goto messenger app.
