I picked my Inspire this afternoon. I transferred my old text messages to my new phone and it then started sending them out to again. Anyone else have this happen?

Yes I have the same issue. Twice. Here's what happened to me:

Got my new phone, put in my old sim card so I could use it right away. Transfered all my data (contacts, calendar, and sms) to the new phone via bluetooth. That's when text messages I've sent and received were resent. It was so bad that I had to turn off my cell phone radio by switching to airplane mode.

The second occurrence was when I activated my new simcard by calling att. I had it activated and restarted my HTC inspire and all my texts were resent.

Help please...

I didn't have this problem but i didn't transfer any texts, but i did somehow receive a text from someone sent to me from April 2010.

Yes,
It happened to me, too. And since then...the phone is not notifying me of any text messages UNLESS I am on the phone...then the settings apply into the internal phone and I can't hear conversations!!

Yes, I've had problems, too.
Has anyone tried resetting their cells to factory resest?
Please answer if it helped!
Thanks

I had this problem also with my 2 day old Insprie. For anyone else who might have this problem here is what i did that seems to have worked but first from what everyone else is saying here and knowing my own experiences it seems like the issue starts when you sync old msgs via bluetooth. (sucks b/c i thought that was a very cool feature). The quick fix for me was to delete any message threads that received any sync'd messages from my old phone. In my case it was all of them. I wasnt attached to any of that old stuff so it wasnt hard for me to do.

You can go touch messages so that you see all of your message threads on screen, touch menu, then touch delete. Click the X on the right of all of the threads that you want to delete. s/n: If you text a lot I recommend doing just a couple threads at a time. Otherwise it could take a while. Then touch the delete button at the bottom.

I supposed a factory reset would work also but i was trying to avoid that.

Good luck! :D

I have a different texting problem after updating to GB. I was hoping this thread was about my issue, but no such luck. Anyway, i'll post it here just in case anyone is seeing what i'm seeing.

When I'm typing out a text message and I hit the "backspace" button to fix a typing mistake, sometimes it will eject me from the message and ask me to select messages for deletion. I'll have to hit cancel, and then the back button a few times to get back to my list of messages.

It's annoying b/c it happens a few times a day. It never happened with Froyo. Anyone else seeing this odd behavior when texting?

Thanks!

Yes. It happens on mine too. I've been using Handcent pretty much since I got the phone so I didn't notice it until someone else had posted the same problem on another forum and I checked it out on my stock messaging app. I tested it with the three different keyboards and the same thing happens with every keyboard. The only think I would recommend is to try switching to a 3rd-party messaging app like Handcent or GoSMS. Most of the issues that are happening in the stock app don't carry over to these other apps.

I have this bug when texting too. With me, it happens if I open the keyboard before switching to landscape. I just make sure I don't open the keyboard until I have rotated the phone to landscape mode. Although, sometimes I forget and then it is really annoying.

Yes!!! That's it!! I can reproduce the problem every time now. Thank you very much. Now I'll have to remember not to rotate the phone halfway through typing a message.

Again, many thanks!
