I recently updated to Jelly Bean on my Galaxy SII Skyrocket and among other issues, I am trying to fix how many characters I can have in one text message. It used to be that you can type like 140 characters per message. After the update, it only allows 70 characters per message and is constantly sending people multiple messages that only have a few words in them.
Does anyone know if there is a way to change this. I often text people that do not have unlimited texts and this is causing a major issue.
PLEASE HELP!!

An SMS is 160 characters long counting spaces and periods and such. Having said that I don't see how you can be down to 70 even with a software update. I would check again and make sure you are counting everything. On my phone if SMS it tells me the character count.

It tells me 70 characters. for example, it might say 70/1 when there is nothing in the text box. It used to tell me 160/1 for the same thing. it just changed with the update.

i actually just figured it out!! I changed the Input mode in text message settings from "unicode" to "GSM alphabet"
