Just upgraded to nougat. Unlike marshmallow I don't see a place in the stock text messenger app where I can actually change the color of the conversation for each person. Does anyone have any ideas?

Stock text app doesn't do it anymore from what I read everywhere. Have to go with a third party app. I use textra.

In "Android Messenger" you change up the color of individual people in the chat.

He probably means Nougat in a Galaxy S7. I just got the update today and now I'm searching for the same answer. They give you like 4 choices for text background and they are the funkiest choices. There is a white background choice and then some with poka dots and shapes. Who decides this stupidity? At the very least you should have basic colors to choose from.

I want deeper toned colors, can't stand the muted tones everything seems to blend together on my galaxy s7 edge

Try looking through the "Themes' you can download on the phone. Go to Settings, Wallpapers and themes. You can find a bunch of free (or paid) themes that can add color and help with this problem. I just downloaded a free theme then added my original wallpaper and icons and it has worked for me. Hope this helps.

I read this and found a solution. If you hit the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the default messaging app, then tap Settings, you will find an option to change the theme just like in the previous version. It works the same with one change: you can apply your style to all conversations instead of being limited to just the present one.

I disagree. May depend on your phone
