text notification

I'm new to the android platform so i apologize if this question is dumb. Today my g2 stop showing when i have a new text message. The phone vibrates, but no sound. Also no number appears next to message icon. However i do receive the text. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Settings > Sound > Volumes and make sure the volumes are correct.

Volume settings are fine. Email notifications are loud and clear. Must be something to do with just messaging because i'm not getting a number showing either. Also the font got bigger but just for messaging. Usually pretty good with this stuff but i'm stumped.

I believe the previous poster is correct. Check the settings under notifications that's the option for the pop-ups

All boxes are checked under notification. Also a default sound is chosen.
