texting adds country code causing failed messages and I keep failing. I have removed assisted calling. This is a galaxy s6 edge from verizon and i am now in Germany. I am using telekom network.

This will fix your problem. Husband bought s6 from Verizon and now we're in Germany with Telekom and this solved our issue. Change reference country to Germany, put the zeros for everything else, leave the 14 length, and you should be good :)
 
Hi, sorry for posting on an old board.
I am having the same problem, with an S5 from Verizon, using it with Spark (Telecom) in New Zealand. I have done as you said, but the number still converts to +64 after a few minutes. Do you have any other suggestions?
