Texting app????

I am looking for an app that will allow my to view my txt msgs without the silly (bubbles) I call them bubbles. The little box or cloud like you see in the comic strips. That format wastes precious real estate on my phone. I'd prefer it to just show the message across the screen minus the fluff. I looked at Handcent and it appears to be even worse than the default on the phone. I had to load a rom on my MotoQ to get that kind of functionality. I'm ok with that if I can get away from the silly bubbles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried that and it didn't seem to do anything other than allow me to send. Incoming messages did not appear in that interface.
I may have failed somewhere in the settings?

GO SMS lets you customize the look and feel. I also think the bubbles are silly and have plain boxes for messages, color coded for different people.
