I'm looking for a new texting app. I've been using the stock Samsung messaging app but I need more options. I don't like that Hangouts doesn't give you pop up notifications and forget out the VZW messaging app. I have three messaging apps that came with my phone and I don't like any of them. What are some of the superb texting apps out there? Thanks in advance.

I still like Textra because it's relatively simple & streamlined. I love the texting from Notification shade anywhere. Not wild about the new look but it's still basically the same app so it's fine. Tried Evolve & wanted to like it but it was too easy for me to trip something in it while typing. Can't remember exactly what I did.

Textra has the new Android L looks. It's awesome.

Tetra is my fave. Used to be Go SMS but it started getting too bloated and it has pop up ads, so I uninstalled it.

I've had some issues with the stock app, not receiving pics, I'd just get a grey box with a image with a red triangle with a ! In it. Textra, I got the pics

I went to Textra because it has the options, but operates very simple.

Has all the themes you could want, but black save the battery.

was using Go SMS Pro

tried Chomp, did not like it

The default Message apps on a Verizon make me want to puke.

I use Handcent and really like it. I tried a few others but kept going back. It has a lot of different themes available to download including a dark one which is what I use.
