Texting App

Just curious what app do you guys use for texting? I'm soon getting a Note 4 and interested in maybe trying a different app. I've been using textra almost since the day after i got my S3. I wasn't a fan of the stock messaging app, so i got textra and I love it. Has a lot of the features I look for but i am always up for trying something different with a new phone. Also has the stock messaging app gotten any better?

Google Messenger (speed and splicity is perfect). Simply the best. Beats easily stock app and Hangouts.

I have verizon and love their messenger + app. I've never looked at any of the alternatives because it works perfect for me. Maybe not for others but for me it does

I like Textra . . Stock messenger and Hangouts wouldn't do MMS group texting well for me with friends on other carriers/phones.

Used to use Hangouts and then fell in love with Textra, but have been using Google Messenger since it was introduced and it works best for me. Simple, fast and efficient.

I've said it a few times on here, but I use stock, prediction on, 3x4 keyboard layout, with one handed use on and continuous input (swipe) on. I find it great. I use it one handed most of the time. Every word you type in that it doesn't know, it remembers every one for later. Great.

I used to use GOSMS. After reading about it here a few weeks back, I switched to Textra.

I have to agree, I really enjoy the VZ messages app as well. I also love that I'm able to install this app on my tablets and still able to send and receive texts w/o having to carry my phone around whenever I don't need it.

I would recommend Textra or ChompSMS. I use ChompSMS and love it.

Textra or Google Messenger. Be aware that Google Messenger seems to have a common problem with hangs/snags/delays sending/receiving MMS images. It may not happen right away, but after 2-3 weeks it starts happening to many people. Not sure if the issue has been addressed yet. I DL'd Textra when it started happening to me, haven't gone back.

I liked Textra, and the Message+ is cool. However, lately I have been using the default message program (on VZW N4) for 1 main reason which I have not seen on others. The default messaging program shows me very clearly when the message is a group message. It will list multiple names in the list view and then it has a highlighted bar in the message view.

I prefer the stock app. Why? Because it can be used in multi-window to allow the use of all of the things that can be done with the multi-tasking options of the Note 4. I have been using EvolveSMS which I really like for the themes and backgrounds that are available but the developer has not seen fit to update the app to allow for multi-window use on the Note 4. And I much prefer the ability to use the strength of the Note 4 over cosmetics.

This is why I use ChompSMS though (or Textra) -- If someone texts me and I am in another app doing something -- A quick reply pops up and I can reply real quick from there .. and continue in my app. No need to multi-window it just to respond.
