Texting not working after switching from AT&T / iPhone

Something having to do with Apple's iMessage feature is the best guess so far, but it's been 2 weeks and I still am not receiving texts from some people (some important ones). I'm using Whatsapp for my partner, but even when the tech at T-mobile texts me it only sometimes comes through. Someone who just tried it, his iPhone says: 'Message not sent'.

The engineers are sitting on this ticket and one tech told me there's a report in their system that it should resolve itself after 45 days! I use this phone for work and when associates call to ask why I've not been responding to their texts, all I can do is a lame blame of T-mobile. Going back to the iphone and AT&T really isn't an option at this point, even if I wanted to; I really like my G2.

Anyone heard of this before or have any ideas of what I might do in the meantime? Are there apps which would bypass this which doesn't require the person texting me to have the same app?

Nope. Didn't work. The T-Mobile tech support guy even gave me a link to a special Apple site to manually disassociate my old iphone from my phone number. It's been several days since I did that, and as long as my partner has iMessage turned on on their phone, I still do not get text from him, who has an iphone and at&t. He has to turn off iMessage on his phone for his texts to reach me, and then his texts to other people don't go through.

I want to place the blame on Apple, But T-Mobile should at least have a fix for it.

The reason is because your phone number is your imessage. It is apples fault. Have you tried go ogling your issue? I did this and this is how I fixed my wife's phone.

I found one solution.

AHHHH After lots of tinkering I've solved the issue!

I really hope this helps everyone!

Okay. Heres what to do:

Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on "edit products"
Click on the "x" to the right of the product.
Click "unregister"

Within seconds of doing this I was able to receive SMS messages from iMessage users!

Yes, this is what the last T-mobile tech told me to do, and it's finally now working! (not seconds- but rather days- later. hmm...) I wish T-mobile techs had this info from the start, but I'm glad it's solved.
