Texts for my Android (from one friend) go to Macbook Messages, not phone

Welcome to Android Central! So you're saying that when your friend texts your, the message doesn't show up in your Android phone's stock SMS app, but instead goes to your Macbook Messages on your Mac? Or are you saying that when you try to text your friend, your text doesn't go to their phone, but instead only shows up on their Mac?

Did you have an iphone before? Sounds like your friend is texting you via imessage instead of SMS so it's hitting your Apple ID on your Mac instead of your phone.

In that case, look at L0n3N1nja's post above. Does that describe your situation?

Yes you will need to deregister your number from iCloud so that your sms messages will come through to your android.

Make sure that you de-register from every Apple device you own as well. I found de-registering only my phone was not enough. I had to do so on my iPad, iMac and MBP.

Maybe? Not that I am aware of, but I could have missed something. I went to each device and de-registered it and texts worked properly after that.

The one I forgot initially is that I had a second older iPhone as a back-up/spare and had forgotten about it when I was doing the de-registering process. It was driving me crazy because I thought I did everything correctly and it still wasn't working.
