Texts not showing up when

Every once in awhile ill get a ill go to open my texts and it says I don't have any. Ill reboot and the texts shows up again..then few days later it will do the same thing. This is with the stock messaging app and I have used other texting apps and same issue. How can I fix this

That's not much to go on.
What model/carrier/firmware version?
When did the problem start? Anything installed/updated around the same time?
What have you already tried to fix the problem?
Ready for a Factory Reset (i.e. have a recent backup)?
